Shane CROFT, the programming genius behind the old Tweaking.com array of great Windows utilities, left Tweaking about a year and half ago. He has released a new product, SirCleaner, under his new company (no partners this time): sirsoft.io (Shane Croft Solutions Inc.).

There are free and paid versions of this software. Previously, I was System Ninja Pro user, and before that, CCleaner, but SirCleaner is far more powerful, with many more options to fine-tune the scanning and cleaning of junk files. These are early days for the product. It still lacks a Help file and other improvements, but Shane is adding more stuff every day. There is a topic over at the at the Wilders Security Forums for those who might be interested: PC Drive Cleaner at SirSoft.io (SirCleaner)

I have no affiliation with Shane other than as a new SirCleaner Pro customer, and a great fan of his work when he was at Tweaking.com.

@z3r010 : If this post violates Forum Rules, then please delete it and accept my apologies. I thought other ElevenForum members might be interested in this new product.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

I tried it and am quite impressed. Along with all the standard cleanup items it found 5 GB of old Windows stuff that was not found by either Wise Disk Cleaner or Ashampoo WinOptimizer cleaner.

That's the good news. The bad news is it deleted all my Brave and Chrome browser passwords. I got them back pretty easily by exporting the same from my phone and just importing them into both Brave and Chrome, but I wanted to find out why that happened. Here is the reason:

SirCleaner gives you a list like this for both Brave and Chrome:
1.webp
I checked everything because I don't like leaving traces of my data when I shut my PC down. The mistake I made was checking Login Data. This actually means "Browser passwords", but that's not the language it used. So I'm going to keep the program, uncheck that setting, and post a message to the author. I guess this is the kind of problem one should expect with a new software release.

I see there is a Portable version, which I prefer, but does anyone know if they have a similar feature to CCleaner's Cookie feature where you can select the ones you want to keep?

@Helmuuth ,

I invite you try your comparison. There is a free version. No need for your email address. Just try it and see what you think . . .

I have not used the product you mentioned, but I formerly used one or more Wise products many years ago, but I was not happy with one Wise product when it borked my computer, so I have not gone near their products since.

This is just my opinion and experience, YMMV. I do not speak for anyone, but myself.

And please, my response is not meant to denigrate Wise products or those who use them, so I would really like to keep this topic focused on SirCleaner, what's good and what needs to be improved.

Shane is open to all kinds of suggestions, and he will investigate bug reports promptly.

And, yes, these are early days, but the program is already incredibly effective.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

PS: I am NOT a spokesman for Shane. I will inform him of my topic here via email later this evening. I hope he will join Eleven Forum, since it appears that John has approved this topic. Shane would want to speak for himself.

Hello everyone!
I was asked to come here, so hope you don't mind.

I wrote SirCleaner and yes its in its early days. I spent 3 years writing it and only one pair of eye can only see so much. Already I'm making changes based on feedback. So feedback is always welcome!

A help file on the site or with the program is REALLY needed, I will be doing that after the upcoming update. There is a lot of things you can do that people don't realize. Also going to make a welcome screen that will point out some things from the start.

When it comes to excluding anything I made it simple. No need to add each thing manually.

Most things can be right clicked on, right click on the tree view and see the options for selecting.
Double click on the summary scan results to list the files found for that certain app that was cleaned. Can also right click on any of the scan results, which includes excluding, opening the file path and even saving the scan to a text file. You can also multi select items, making it easier for excluding and also for opening multiple file locations at once

I am currently working on an update I hope to have out this weekend.
1. Removed "login data" from the browser cleaning. It was removing passwords.
2. Slightly increased font size in the entire program (that was tedious, had to update every control one by one)
3. New feature, the program will show what files it was unable to delete and the reason why. Thats for both free and pro. The pro feature I'm adding is being able to delete those files at next system reboot via the windows registry so that windows will delete those stubborn files at the next restart.

Its currently 4 am for me (I'm in Oregon). Just finished all the font size changes. I finding working late at night keeps me from being interrupted, I run a computer repair business as well so during the day I get interrupted a lot, that and a girlfriend and 5 kids lol

For utilities like Voidtools Everything, what does it remove. It is unclear. I ticked almost everything and it deleted 10GB. Yikes!

Great app! My Lenovo P16s Gen 2 AMD was painfully slow until I cleared everything except the login choise —now it flies. I hate to say it, but if a computer is sluggish just because of files stored on it… come on!

Cant edit my last post. But made some changes today so a quick update out.

v2.4.1
Changed the "Unable To Delete" screen to be off by default. Can be turned on in the settings.

Change the default way file sizes are formatted. Old way was "1.437 MB" New way is "1.4 MB"
Included check box in settings to go back to the old formatting.

Added right click menu to the "Unable To Delete" screen to open, exclude or save the list to a file.

Changed the location of the LastClean.ini from the AppData\Local to the program folder instead.

Its currently 4 am for me (I'm in Oregon). Just finished all the font size changes. I finding working late at night keeps me from being interrupted, I run a computer repair business as well so during the day I get interrupted a lot, that and a girlfriend and 5 kids lol

I am exactly the same. Even with a wife and only one son at home, I find it impossible to do me.
The only problem with that is, I can’t sleep past 7am. So 5am knock offs is a problem, sort of.

Welcome here, Sir
