Hi all,

My Snipping Tool is gone since the recent large update.

Is it still included in the latest version, or should I copy it from my old Win11 version ?

Thanks

Some time ago Microsoft introduced a new tool Snip and sketch which eventually was to replace the original Snipping Tool

It's quite possible that this has finally happened

Not on mine. Both upgrade to 22H2 and clean install of 22H2, I simply click on the start icon and type snip:

I don't remember where I found this, but I found a post where you can bring the Windows 10 snip tool into Windows 11. This is what I did, and mine looks like the original Windows 10 one, and is still working great.

Hi all,

My Snipping Tool is gone since the recent large update.

Is it still included in the latest version, or should I copy it from my old Win11 version ?

Thanks

Thanks Libran. I should have been more clear. I am looking for the old simple Snip tool. I think it was introduced in Win10 and untill two days ago it was still available on my Win11

As far as I can remember the 'old' version was removed and is no longer available as a download. You could try copying across the old version from an earlier source, which will probably work if it's a single exe file, but you may find that it disappears again with future updates.

Edwin,

The mui file needs to be in a subfolder of the one with the .exe in it.
The subfolder is named after your language, en-US [I guess].

@GeneralLee01, Edwin,

Use the EdTittel procedure to rescue old components for re-use in later Versions.
Rescue Old Windows 10 Applications from Oblivion - Windows Enterprise Desktop
They can be rescued from old system images as well as from installed OSs.

I use a Windows 10 Snipping tool in my Windows 11 with no problems at all.
Mine is en-GB and I don't know if you'll be able to use it as it stands instead of rescuing one of your own. Do let me know.
Mine can only be used by those with en-GB as their Windows language.
- Extract the zip file anywhere you want and make a shortcut to its .exe in the normal manner.

Denis
