Ok so I see the Snipping Tool has changed now. Well, I opened it, highlighted an area on my screen and clicked on it and the window disappeared..um ok. Wheres my pics then? I cannot find them for the life of me. If they are supposed to end up in the Main Pictures folder well they arent. So is it even saving a pic or is this funtion broke atm?

That or anywhere where that accepts pasting images to from the clipboard.

Usually, you can annotate the screenshot in Snipping Tool, and save it where you like though.

Hi,
You have to use Save or save as those dialogs default to pictures area

If you don't use either your snip shots are lost by the new snip.

I have read clipboard can occupy more than one image office clipboard but it has to be open to work

If you click on the snipping tool in start then click on the three dots (settings) and turn on 'save snips'.

Screenshot_1.png

Take a screen shot then do whatever work on it then select the save icon. It will save to wherever you want. You can create your own folder first if needed.

My PrtScr key opens the little Snipping Tool window that lets you pick the kind of snip you want (rectangle, free-hand, Window, etc.) and it captures the screen image OK, but the only way I can save the image is to do something awkward like creating a blank JPG image and then pasting the clipboard contents into that image.

In other words, I can't find a way to get to the Snipping Tool's Settings window - probably because there is no Snipping Tool icon in my Start menu. I have no idea why it's not there given that I can take screenshots using it. Is there a way ai can get the icon back into the Start menu?

Go to Store and search for Snip@Sketch and install. If it shows already installed then go to Settings - Apps - Apps and Features, scroll down to Snipping Tool, click the settings icon on right and uninstall. Open Store again and install Snip @ Sketch.
You should now have the Snipping Tool back in your start list.

As for the confusing naming of the same app - I give up with Ms. :zany:

Thanks - I think. I followed your advice and finally got it to work. But it was certainly far from clear what steps were needed to accomplish this. It's pretty awkward to have to take the screenshot and then go to that popup in the bottom right corner which then opens another windows from which the screenshot can be saved to disk.

I post a fair number of screenshots and I've been using ScreenPresso for that since I sometimes need to post video clos also. I was hoping I could find a simpler app just for screenshot JPG images. At this point it's not clear to me that the Snipping Tool (or whatever it's name actually is) is that, but I'll try it for a while.

Not sure what you mean by that. All you need to do, if you've set 'save snips' to on in the settings, is to click the save icon. You then get a pop-up to select where to save.
