You'll probably have to do clean install. I used my W10 insider developer to upgrade from.

You should be able to try to get on Windows Insiders Dev channel to get official. Some people had no issues taking a Windows Update supplied update to WIn11, but some (including me) did. But at this point even getting on the Dev channel might be a chore.

You can also use UUPDUMP to grab the latest yourself and perform an in-place upgrade, and see if it works.

To do so, you'll need to see this tutorial: UUP Dump - Download Windows Insider ISO

And once you have the .ISO created, you need to follow this tutorial: Upgrade to Windows 11

Note: Make a full backup of your system before proceeding - so if it breaks, you can at least restore to where you are now.

"Something happened" is an error message that has been reported a good while ago now. Was that all the way back to Windows 8x? I know that it didn't exist before Windows 8. That's one of those "worthy-of-someone-at-Microsoft-getting-fired" hall-of-shame features.
Albeit this time, it looks like it possibly isn't as bad as that one I saw screenshotted a good while ago, IIRC. (Where I thought I possibly saw a box that said "something happened" and nothing else other than maybe a close button!)

Honestly, if you have already paid for Acronis, and it is a relatively recent version, stick with what you know.

Acronis, Macrium Reflect, and CloneZilla all will make perfectly usable full system backups of both Windows 10 installations, and should work well with Windows 11 - but I've only tested macrium and CZ on 11, as I don't have Acronis anymore.

Probably Macrium Reflect.

I did the Dev channel install without issue. As soon as my laptop is done with its backup, I'm going to install Dev channel it there.

Will post any issues noted when done. But as stated, didn't have any issues with backup system (system two) going Dev route.

What issue did you have?

For me, I took the leak 21996.1 as an upgrade to my Win10 21H1 (19043.1081, I *think* it was) system, after the dual full system backups in Macrium and CloneZilla. The leak had its minor issues, but by and large worked fine.,

But when I tried to use WU to install the first Dev channel release 22000.51 over 21996.1, it got to a certain point, around the 3rd reboot, of 26% installed and GSODd. Twice.

So I restored the backup to Win10, and then used WU and it upgraded to .51 perfectly fine. Since then I've had no issues with subsequent WU offerings - they've always download in the background and let me know when the computer is ready to reboot.

It was only that one time trying to go from 21996.1 to 22000.51 that it refused to do so. Some had similar issues as I did. But others had no issues with going that route. So it was a true case of YMMV.

I did the Dev channel install without issue. As soon as my laptop is done with its backup, I'm going to install Dev channel it there.

Will post any issues noted when done. But as stated, didn't have any issues with backup system (system two) going Dev route.

What issue did you have?
FWIW, I was already on the DEV Channel of Windows 10. Shortly after the leak came out (I kept my paws off that), Windows Update notified me of an update, so I went for it, and when it finished I had Windows 11 on my DEV Channel! That was a jolt! The jury is still out on whether I'll stay with Windows 11 or Windows 10, which is on my Production partition. I dual boot.
