I need help. I recently used dupeGuru on both my Music Folder and external hard drive, but after I used it on my external hard drive, I came to realize that it decimated a good portion of my album collection, and I don't think that I made any backups or restore points. Therefore, does anyone know of a good Recycle Bin Recovery App that can retrieve my lost music from my recycle bin?

Recuva is also a good program to recover deleted files.

Thanks, altae. But I tried the seemingly simple and straightforward instructions on how to run this, but I got a result page that I have no idea what to do with. Therefore, does it look like I did something wrong?

These are the deleted files Recuva has found. You can select and recover them. The file names are never restored which can make it challenging to identify the right files. By the way if you recover files make sure you save them on a different drive and not on the one the deleted files were stored. Otherwise you overwrite the files you want to recover.

If you get too many results you can also limit the search to certain paths. So if you know the path where the files you deleted were stored you can only search for deleted files in that path. This should make it easier to pinpoint the correct files.

Also you will want to recover them to a disk other than one you are recovery from otherwise you risk overriding the files you are trying to recover

I'm a bit confused. The whole purpose of the program is to find duplicates, so what happened to the copy that dupeGuru didn't erase?

You can run the wizard (if you deactivated it you can launch it in the options) and select "In a specific location" where you can enter a path you want to scan. Or if you chose to install the context menu entries you can also right click the corresponding folder in Windows Explorer and select "Scan for deleted files".
