Strange Graphics Problem with Epson Scan

I have an Epson A810 printer and I use the Epson Scan utility that installs along with the Windows 10 driver package. The printer and scanner work great on Windows 11....... except:

When I open the Epson Scan utility I get the normal graphical interface that looks like this:

Do you see that blank space just above the Help/Configuration/Close buttons?
There are supposed to be 2 buttons there: PREVIEW and SCAN
But wait! They are there!
If I click in the area I know they exist they 'light up':

And they work too.

But closing the utility and reopening it again they are invisible again.
This also happens on a couple of the buttons in the Preview Window.

This does not happen on the Windows 10 installations.

Any ideas of what is going on?

I'd suspect your graphics driver is the issue.

That's a good guess. That could explain it.
I wonder if there is an easy way to test that. I'm using the most current Nvidia driver now.

This is a bug in W11. Thousands of users have this - me too.
Epson will not fix it - too old SW
The simplest workaround is this:
After the Gui opened. press the left ALT key and the missing controls are there

I found a thread on MS forums where a poster had found a patch, but the link takes you to a Japanese Epson website. It might warrant further investigation.

I just got through the entire thread. There is a patch from Epson but you have to search. It doesn't seem to be on the US website. Japan, Australia, and Europe were mentioned.
I'm going to test and I'll let y'all know.

The patch - EpsonScan_W11P_20211102_S.exe - did not work for my Artesan 810.

Have you tried running Epson Scan in compatibility node?
