Hello everybody.

I switched over to Windows11 about 3 days ago. I use pen input, meaning handwriting, a lot.

Unfortunately, I have found that in Win11 strokes sporadically jitter while they are being drawn. The final result of the stroke is ok. However, it keeps distracting me.

What I mean by 'jitter while being drawn' is that 'flickery/flashing' section of the stroke that appears right after where the pen tip has passed. It, in a sense, follows the pen tip along its path.

Here is a link to a video (37 MB) where you can see that: (NOTE, you might have to download the video, the host might compress the online version.)
  • the 1st stroke is displaying the mentioned "jitter" (that is what I call it for now, if there is a better term, please let me know)
  • the 2nd stroke has it intermittently
  • the 3rd stroke is fine
  • the 4th and the 5th strokes clearly show it
  • the 6th stroke is fine.
I recommend watching it in full-screen mode on a tablet or computer. A phone screen might not be large enough to spot the important details.
In the video the issue in question might seem like 'nothing'. But it is becoming somewhat irritating when experienced in real life and when handwriting for hours a day.

I never had this issue on Windows10. The hardware and software installed, apart from Windows itself, are exactly the same, and are the same versions.

Setup:
  • Pen input happens via a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 2.5K drawing display --> OpenTabletDriver, which relies on Windows Ink, to manage and control the pen.
  • Scrivano as handwriting software, but the same is happening when writing/drawing in MS Word (up-to-date O365)
  • All monitors at 60 fps

More details:

  • It happens independent of how fast I write/draw, what I draw, or where I draw on the screen
  • I tried my spare pen, did not make a difference
  • Booted back into Win10 (same machine) - everything is working flawlessly
  • Both my Win10 and Win11 are equally 'optimized'
  • I have wiped and reinstalled Win11 - the issue keeps persisting
  • This is not down to ink smoothing etc. - Windows Ink settings are the exact same on my Win10 and Win11
  • The pen display is directly connected to the motherboard's HDMI and USB sockets

I don't expect that anybody on here will be able to crack this 'though' nut, but I also wanted to leave it here for others who might experience a similar issue.

Any feedback is much appreciated. Cheers!

Welcom to the forum. First make sure you are using the latest Huion driver dated 7/15/25 Download Drivers And User Manual - Huion
I would also make sure That you have the latest graphics and bios updates from AsRock.

If you happen to have Logitech devices, I don't know if it will help your issue but I found this on another forum..

I experienced pen stuttering on my Huion for months, I've found out that a specific service associated to Logitech drivers is causing conflicts with the Huion drivers. All you have to do is open the Task Manager and close the process called "LampArray Translation Service". Your pen will now work perfectly.
You might also contact Huion support. If anyone is aware of issues with Windows 11 and their products, it would be them

Thanks for replying.

I tried Huion's latest driver, same issue. (In general, OpenTabletDriver seems much more robust than the Huion driver.)

I do have the latest drivers installed, for the motherboard and everything else.

No Logitech devices connected to may computer.
