My GTX 1080 is kaput, I am looking for suggestions for a reasonably priced alternative. It should be comparable performance wise used for video and photo editing and a few games.

Hey, Whats you're budget?
I deliberately avoided stating a budget, I guess it would be the cheapest I can get something that will perform as well as the GTX 1080, its not that I can't afford a good card it's just that I don't want to spend on something I don't need. Also would need the same PCU to board sockets

The GTX 1080 cards vary in their PCI-E auxiliary power requirements. Some take a single 8 pin, some add a 6 pin. How about yours?

In the nVidia world, probably an RTX 3060 or RTX 3060 ti. Neither is exactly equivalent to a 1080. The 3060 may be slightly less in perfromance, the 3060 to significantly better.

If AMD is an option for you, an RX 6600 XT looks comparable to a GTX 1080.

Yeah a 3060 or a 3060ti/amd equivalent would be a bit better than the 1080, the 3060 is somewhat between 7-12 fps/ish better off than the 1080, the 3060ti is anywhere from around 20 to 40fps better off, Id personally go for the 3060ti.

what happened? Did it just suddenly stop working? or you messed up with overclocking? My old R9 290 stopped working and tried the baking method I saw on Linus video and it's been almost a year now and still working.

Here is my post about it on this forum:

But you know it's not a joke right? :giggle:
The idea there I think is to restore all the soldered connections by melting them down in high temp.
GPUs are subject to high temp and vibration which may cause some soldered connections to loosen up.
Blown caps is another story.
