Solved Suggestions for a CD/DVD burner in Windows 11

I have not burned a CD in years. But I am now looking for a software solution.

Can anyone recommend a program for basic CD/DVD burning? I used imgburn years ago. It was well known and liked program, by many people. But these days, I don't know. Also, for any recommend freeware, I'd like to know a safe download site to ensure I don't get any unwanted crapware on my PC. Now days, you can't be too careful about that.

You do not need any 3rd party apps.

I just use Windows Media Player for burning Cds/DVDs for use in standalone players.

For data, I just use File Explorer.

O.T here but why do you need a DVD burner these days - most computers will play DVD ISO's (e,g VLC, KODI etc) and if you have a fire stick or android type of smart TV or box and install KODI or VLC on it then you can stream the DVD ISO to the device. Just use any ripping software to create an ISO of a DVD if using a commercial DVD.

Even easier for Audio - just rip to any format you like on to a USB thumb drive or to a phone memory. Most cars even of quite elderly vintage will have an AUX in system or even blu tooth or both).

i am late getting back on here. But I installed the AnyBurn program that Ghot recommended.

It appears light weight, and everything I need for the odd;/occasional need to burn data to CDs. I just used the program to burn a CD that had over 1,000 pages of medical documents to a blank CD. This was needed as a backup copy for a relative who needed a backup copy of the records since he is sending the original CD out with a disability claim.

The AnyBurn program is very quick and simple to use for needs like this. I am like most people now days in saying that I don't have a lot of need for burning CDs. But that being said, it is still nice to have the optical drive on my PC; and have the simplicity of a program like AnyBurn for such needs.

I've always had Itunes for burning music to CDs, even though I rarely do that these days. Thanks again for the replies here. This forum is great.

Just posting a FYI, ImgBurn works ok for me on Win 11.

My PC did not come with a DVD Player. I just bought a cheap 23 USD , portable one that plugs into my 3.2 USB port. I have a ton of videos on DVD's and this worked fine. If I burn , I just use Windows Explorer.

That's good to know that ImgBurn still works. I know it was very popular 10 plus years ago. But given the smaller number of people who burn CDs now days, I didn't know if it was still a trusted program or not. Speaking of trust, I always try to be careful which sites I download from.

There's a lot of crapware out there, just waiting to be installed on PCs. It's a shame it's like that now days.

Whenever you download something, it's best to scan it at Virustotal
