Whenever I play a video embedded from a web site e.g. YouTube, on normal mouse click on certain SysTray icons, the popup window from certain SysTray icons shows this video access.

Clipboard01.jpg

Happens with
- wifi icon
- sound (speaker) icon
- laptop battery icon

Browsers affected
- Brave
- Opera
- MS Edge

But not with Firefox ???

Can this be disabled?

EDIT : It doesn't disappear when the browser is closed. Stays until the next instance or reboot

Win 11 Build 22000.708.0

Don't know if this will help, but...

Only browser I have installed is Firefox (EDGE is also uninstalled)
I have as much of Notifications and Focus Assist disabled as possible.

I have never seen that behavior you describe.

/edit
I'm now on Windows 11 if there is anything you want me to check.
I watched part of a video on youtube. Stopped the video, and clicked on speaker icon in systray.
All I see is speaker things.

In Settings > Notifications everything is OFF. Same with Focus Assist.

Tks for this. All Focus Assist cr4p was always all turned off.

Absolute minimum Notifications (Kaspersky a/v) only turned on.

Turned off Kaspersky, but left general Notifications options turned on. no change

Disabled/Off general Notifications (kills everything, whether individual slide switched on/off) .... Bingo. My web browsing video activity gone.

EDIT Well, that lasted all of 5 minutes. Back with a vengeance even though ALL notification and focus assist options are off. D4mn.

Clicking on the Home button on YT removes it.
Clicking on the Home button gets rid of it sometimes, or just returns to the entry thumbnail selection of videos. Even if, not permanent, comes back again.

Can't sat I'm enamoured by calling this "normal"; not "normal" with Firefox in W11.

And it's not just YT, it's many (all?) other (similar) video sites, and for any video embedded in a website (e.g. media news websites).

Firefox isn't chrome based.
I use it often when playing background music and have other tab(s) open doing other things. Yes it's normal and useful for basic controls.

EDIT: tried it with Firefox and it works but without an image.
You need to stop the video and then click the home button otherwise the mini player will keep playing.

Ah ha, so it has its origins in chromium based browsers, hence Brave, Opera, Edge. Tks for those details

May be someone will come up with a 'fix' to disable it for you. Personally I quite like it.

I've got a vague memory of fixing this unwanted popup panel in the past by going to edge://flags/ and disabling some keys with 'media' in the text.

Then there was an update and the panel reappeared. I looked for the media keys, but they had been removed and I couldn't repeat the fix.

Since the panel shows when adjusting the audio volume, one consolation is that in the next major update audio level can be changed by hovering the mouse cursor over the speaker icon and rolling the mouse wheel - the popup panel is still there, but you don't have to see it :).

I upgraded using an insider iso and now have this audio mouse wheel function.

Interesting. I've never seen it before this thread, as I only adjust volume using my keyboard.

badcrc; On my PC, if in Edge I go to the URL edge://flags and disable "Hardware Media Key Handling", then that popup doesn't appear over the systray. On Chrome, the URL is Chrome://flags.

It pretty much takes the place of the old OSD...

problem is, it's buried in the sys-tray and won't pop up with mouse media controls, so it's kinda useless!

... you only get this with mouse controls...

Son of a diddly - that seems to have fixed it.
