Task-manager?

When I right click on the taskbar to get the context menu, I can see that the Taskmanager is spelled "Task-manager". I can´t remember if there was an dash between Task and manager before? How does it look at your Windows 11?

Btw, I have Windows 11 24H2 (26100.1742) installed on my computer.

Yes.

But it isn’t odd spelling, it’s one of two ways you would write it:

Task-Manager
Task Manager

Different to Windows native, that’s all.

In my Dutch system with Start11, this is shown:

As was for a long time, it was not translated into Dutch.
And is spelled differently from the English system.
One other command is not translated too. (Autohide taskbar)

I reported that long ago to StarDock, including the right language file to 'repair' the small error.
But they wanted me to contribute to their Stardock-Software-Localization team, located at github and that really was not the service I had expected. Besides that, I hardly ever do a right click on the taskbar, so it is not a very severe error.

Now that I am back on StartAllBack, this is no problem anymore for me, only having Start11 in a VirtualBox test environment.

But if you wish to change that, this is the location of the language files:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Start11\lang
In that location, there are two language files for the English language:
en.lng and en-us.lng
In both (text) files, at the very bottom is written:
;Added in 2.11
"Task Manager"="Task-Manager"
So they changed that om purpose, probably because someone complained about the wrong spelling.
Take that line away and you will have the old spelling back.
But be aware that after any update of Start11, the language file will be overwritten and the other spelling will be back again...

LOL , As much as writing it either way is fine i would say, i would say windows should be TaskManager, Id say the - was probably an american somewhere at somepoint again

Yes, that's the default appearance of windows 11 without taskbar tweaking apps.
Every other member that has no such apps will have that (or the version in the local language).

StartAllBack still uses the name Task Manager.

It was in the language file of Start11 that this way of spelling was deliberately chosen.

It would not surprise me if in different states of the USA different ways of writing or pronunciation are used.
That once, long ago, was subject of a song in a movie with Fred Astaire:

As Dutchman I don't bother very much about how Englisch is pronounced or spelled, neither (niether) in England nor America.
But some people may be offended by misspellings in their view.

Alas! My knowledge of the English language is too poor to know if I should interprete that as a joke or as serious.

It looks like you're right about us talking and spelling things differently depending on what state we live in. I live on the East Coast and have never heard of the phrase, Non Binariger.

It's a joke. There's a very small but outspoken number of people who don't use the terms male or female. Therefore they consider themselves to be "non binary". I replaced the first three letters in MANager with 'non binary'. Unfortunately it's not funny if the joke has to be explained....... Oh well.

btw, if you use any taskbar replacement (SAB, etc), WinX editor from winaero still works... so you can remove it and re-add it with any name that you want
