Hi there

I managed to restore a W11 VM to a broken physical W11 system on a laptop with Macrium V8 using the deploy to different hardware and fix Windows boot problems from a W11 image taken from within the VM and now downloads working perfectly (on the 22000.282 build with the optional updates). My W11 original system wouldn't download from any website --posted on that defect elsewhere on W11 Forum. Didn't want to go through the whole W10->W11 update B/S again.

Thanks to all at Macrium -- it's worth going for the paid V8 version if you mess around with this stuff like I do -- and in the past still one company that knows about Customer service. I remember when guys were working over a weekend to fix numerous problems when W10 first came out !! and they had fixes ready by the monday morning.

Well done Macrium --please don't get taken over by an uncaring Hedge Fund !!!.

Screenshot -- but Not for Man Utd fans

They are losing Big TIME !!! to big rivals Liverpool -- from SKY GO -- working well too on this release -- everything fixed so thanks again Macrium. VAR disallowed the goal so still losing 5 - 0.

MU.png

I don't think Ronaldo is going to rescue Man Utd's season this year though. !!!

Language working also OK

Skjámynd 2021-10-24 222126.png

Even Office Updates working again (Office 2021 LTSC) in desired language

off.png

All from V2P (Virtual to Physical) from original VM back to Physical machine

Thanks Macrium again for a lot of time and aggro saved. !!!
Cheers

IMHO, Macrium is the best imaging software on the market. I did have a small problem using the Rescue Media made with Version 8 the other day. Messing around with dual booting my boot partition got corrupted and my desktop wouldn't boot. I thought , not a problem I'll use Macrium to restore the image of the boot partition. When I booted the desktop with Macrium the only drives listed was the USB Macrium drive and the USB drive with my images. There should have been two SSD drives listed. They did show in the Bios. The rescue disk work perfectly the last time I used it. I then tried making a new Recue disk with my old desktop running Macrium 7. The same thing happend plus the font was to large for the screen and I had to exit the full screen mode. I then tried making a Rescue disk with my laptop running Macrium 8. This time it worked and my desktop is now booting again. I have since removed the second version of Win 11 and deleted the boot entry with EasyBCD. I'm still confused about why my internal SSDs were not showing when the desktop was running the Macrium Rescue image.

Hi there
@Winuser

I've found when making the stand alone bootable version is to choose in build (advanced) where you can choose the WIM which gets used in building the software and from the dropdown select the PE version rather than the RE WIM (default) - especially if your internal SSD's are on NVME2 type devices rather than the classical SATA connected versions. I think the latest WIN PE build has all the correct drivers in it - especially for W11.

Cheers

Thanks', I'll make an extra Rescue disk using the PE version. My desktop has two internal SSDs. Drive 0 (D) is connected with a Sata cable. Drive 1 (C) is Nvme. The thing I find strange is that I have used the Recovery disk before.

WinRe is fine - I have not needed to use WinPe for a long time. WinRe allows backing up over wifi which is great for emmc drives.

If people are having issues with WinRe, it is usually related to partition setup on host drive.

I was having a problem running Macrium v8 from the Rescue disk. For some reason my internal drives didn't show. The only drives that showed was the Macrium boot disk and my external drive that contained my Images. I have used this disk before and it worked. I tried making a rescue disk from my othe desktop running Macrium v7 and I still couldn't get my drives to show. I then made a rescue disk with my laptop running Macrium v8.

I ran into a problem running Macrium v8 from the rescue disk. For some reason it wouldn't show my two internal drives. It only showed the Macrium rescue disk and my data drive that contained the images. I solved it by making a new rescue disk with my laptop running Macrium v8. I had used this disk before and it work.

I don't like people say: xxx is the best xxx software. At least, you should add: in my opinion, or in my experience. Otherwise, you should provide solid data, comparison before you make such claims.

For example, my experience with Macrium Reflect is not good at all. One time it even rendered my HDD not recognizable in WinPE after a backup/restore operation. IMO, Terabyte Image for Windows is the best between speed/compression ratio with superb reliability. For me it's the best but I don't shout around on this forum. This is not what this forums is supposed to be used. This is not a market where you advertise your favorite app with a dedicated thread with just your user experience without solid data support. It's OK it casually mention it in discussion how you feel about it, but posts such as this one should be discouraged, to say the least.

In my reply I did say, IMHO (In My Honest Opinion). We are allowed to express our feelings about what software we think is best. You do know you have the right to not read any post you don't like.

Hi,
Boot winpe environment has never failed creating or recovering system images except once in 11 that got dictatorial with folder write restrictions

In win-10 reflect has failed to verify and or create images at times which is very possible when the os is active to many unnecessary variables.

So this Macrium Reflect 8 is something as Acronis True Image Home?

I disagree - most users on this forum use this and have found it to be very reliable and flexible, and we have lots of evidence to recommend it. I doubt there are many regulars here who use Terabyte. I did tests on Terabyte and it was less flexible and no better. There is no need to get in a piddling contest. What is more important to educate users about image backups,

I unashamedly recommend Reflect for two reasons.

1) it is very reliable.

2) there is a lot of expertise here to help new users.

Feel free to recommend TERABYTE but do not presume to tell others they should not recommend their favourite tool. If a moderator considers that we should not make such recommendations, that is their prerogative. I presume you believe in the concept of free speech provided it conforms to society's expectations i.e. not racist, genderist etc.?

Terabyte is not suitable for the great majority of users who typically post questions and answers in these forums. Besides that, it seems to be in maintenance mode. The last major update was launched 5 years ago.

Hi folks
@cereberus

Agree not 100% but 500% or more !!!

It always seems to me that newer posters with less than 4 posts seem to pontificate the most on these things, Whatever happened to the old bulletin board philosophy with sysops banning people who didn't behave with proper "netiquette".

There often are alternative solutions or for one reason or another people might dislike what is on offer but the amount of vitriol and rubbish seen these days even on these Forums is probably just a reflection of the "Farce book or Twitter geeration". I think most users here though fortunately can distinguish between obvious trolls, ignorant attention seekers and genuine posters though and give short shrift to the others who after a few messages thankfully go elsewhere.

Cheers
jimbo

Hilarious. You are good at put baseless labels on others, which in itself is bad behavior just defined by yourself. Is this the proper netiquette you are talking about? LOL. You are shooting yourself in the foot.

People needs to think for themselves in terms of which app may suit them the best, not brainlessly follow some subjective "feelings" someone shares. I believe in data, numbers, but not lip service. I tested more than 10 disk imaging apps using high compression ratio for offline full disk imaging and measured speed/size of the images. Terabyte and Acronis came out on top of all other apps so these are what I use now. I doubt anyone here had done the same. State how you use the app and the data then I'll believe what you said.

It's even more hilarious when someone @Anibor_11 even think constant quality is not good, but rather, big updates are good. I don't know what's in his mind. You need a app to be stable, reliable, with top quality and minimum change. That's what Terabyte is. Sounds like you like an app that's constantly "updated", like Windows update? I know I don't.

This thread was started by @jimbo45 to talk about Macrium and not about Terabyte Image for Windows. The title of the thread should have given you a clue. I stated in my post that IMHO Macrium is the best. If you have a problem with my post report it and let the Mods decide if my post is improper or not. You are only a member and have no say over what or how we post. That is the job of the site owner and the Moderators.
