Windoze treats compressed files as if they were folders. I don't. So far, I've gotten rid of .zip and .cab. and now I want to loose .7z .gz .tgz and .rar as well. AND, I'd would LOVE to loose ALL the junk above THIS PC. NO more "stuff" and NO more "pins" that keep coming back no matter how many times I've tossed them out. Hell, I don't even own a donkey and therefore I have very little use for their unsolicited "pins".

Hello Ghot, hello Antspants,

Thanks for the links. Gallery was stubborn but decided to leave on this morning's BOOT. (Booting the bloat is becoming a career.) And special thanks to Shawn Brink who's wonderful collection of "regettes" we've all come to love and appreciate.

The rebirth of unwanted "pins" is being caused by the use of CCLEANER. I'll need to do some more research there along with the removal of .rar etc., from thinking they are folders.

Peter ( . . . now having coffee with a less cluttered explorer. Thank you :)

No problem.

Something is adding pins then.

Check this setting, Peter, make sure it’s off. Then run the remove quick access from nav pane again

  1. Click the See more menu (the three dots icon in file explorer bar) and select Options.
  2. On the Folder Options dialog, make sure the General tab is active.
  3. In the Privacy section, uncheck the Show frequently used folders and Show recently used files in Quick Access in Quick Access box.

All the "simple" stuff has been done a long time ago however I don't appear to have a "Show recently used files in Quick Access box".
