Greetings,
Hp Envy 4500 All in One printer with single cartridge.
is there a solution to this problem described in object?

I specify that after selecting the document to print nothing happens and the cartridge notification comes out, but if I select the printer in devices and printers, and apply the problem detection tool, when it has finished searching for errors, the printer prints the document normally previously selected, but in the error detection tool it does not indicate what the problem is, it just says that the printer has a problem, while with dual cartridges the problem does not exist.
Even using Windows 7, print without problems ...

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
I have the same printer ! Did you try "Easy Start" ? HP Easy Start Téléchargements de logiciels et de pilotes | Assistance clientèle HP® (you need to find your language)
When the program has gone through all its routines, it will propose to you several softwares to download. Don't chose the first one, HP "Smart", which is a nightmare. Chose the second one in the list: HPEnvy 198 (or something like this)

Another solution is "Printflush": Print Flush 1.3 – @bradkovach.blog()
Having run it, your computer will print, but it gives you the message "The PC could not communicate with the printer":unsure::unsure:!

This is really true ! ... ... But the job is done.

alpha, there have been lots of printing problems involved in at least the last three major Windows updates. It may be that you've been caught by one of those bugs.

I do fine with wireless connection to my HP Envy 5500 in Win11, but the default driver doesn't allow the narrow margins that my printer allows.

So I manually install an older driver from an HP package for the 5000 series.

If all efforts fail you could try deleting the printer and restarting the computer. After the computer restarts reinstall the printer.

I have tried them all, but the result does not change, the same warning always appears (see attachment) and it does not print, except after performing troubleshooting for the printer.
Today I received a new download from Hp, are you sure?

Hi alpha,

Don't install the new software immediately. Try the following first:

I don't have the problem, but I have a guess ! There is a shortcut for the "ink" message which you need to remove from startup.

The "test" for the "inchiostro" is in one of the windows startup folders. (I know a bit of Italian, but needed to google for "esuarito", even if I had an idea).

The problem with the windows startup folders is that there are two of them:

The first one is in your user folder:
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

The second one is in Program Data:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

And both are hidden folders !

The easisest way to find these folders is to download "Autoruns" (from Microsoft): Autoruns for Windows - Windows Sysinternals

Run the software as an Administrator (by rightclicking the .exe file and then "Run as Administrator"). When it is open go to the "Logon" tab and remove the entry concerning "inchiostro". (You can also completly remove it by rightclicking on it).

Restart and try again to print !

(Please note that this is only a guess).

Roger

If this did not work:

Another solution is to remove ALL your printer drivers and to begin from zero.

Open "printui.exe" in "C:\Windows\System32\(printui.exe)" or by searching "printui" with "Search".

This will open the following window:

Capture d’écran 2021-11-08 141812.jpg

Remove all the drivers there, except for the two windows * drivers, which you can't remove in any case.

I have put the removable drivers in yellow on the above screenshot.

Then go to "Devices and Printers" (see screenshot below) and remove the printer by rightcklicking on it and "remove".

Capture d’écran 2021-11-08 141308.jpg

(There may be two of them; see * below).

Restart (!) and re-install the HP Envy 198 driver.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* I suppose there is a conflict between the Microsoft drivers and the HP drivers, which both get installed, because Microsoft "forces" the installation of ITS drivers against those of HP (HP Envy 198). But the HP Envy 4504 "All in one" printer is a combined scanner AND printer. You thus need two drivers (which are both in the HP ENVY 4504 package), while Windows only offers the printer driver.

[At one moment, I had two printers installed (in "Devices and Printers") and removed them all before reinstalling the drivers].

Thanks for the reply,
but using printui, you only remove the drivers or the whole package as shown in the image?
While the doors do not have to be removed?
Thanks

As others have suggested, I would want to do a clean-install of the printer. Removing the drivers from the driver-store isn't part of that since those are the source files with no changes/settings.

I WOULD, however, delete the port so it can be created again by the installer -- this would be the FIRST solution I would try.

To delete the port (highlighted below) you may first need to change the printer to use one of the other ones, even though that will not be

correct. So change it to another port, click Apply, then go back and delete the port. Then uninstall and reinstall the printer from Devices.

PS. I solved the problem by uninstalling the printer from the control panel and all the related software.

Restarted the PC and installed a new printer using TCP / IP port and it worked normally.
I installed a scanner app and installed a new printer for it, because the app could not see the printer.

Now it seems that everything is working smoothly.!

I also own an HP envy 4500 series printer and I also use the solution alpha45 did in addition to rebooting/restarting my wifi router and the hp printer works correctly thru wifi & Win11

sometimes my HP envy 4500 printer connects to a private IP address of 169.254.x.x thru wireless and I need to make sure the printer connects to a valid IP address in the 192.168.x.x range

I have a Windows 10 machine that runs an HP Envy 4520 wireless with a manual IP address. No problems – don’t even have to empty the print spool.

I’m building a fresh install of Windows 11 on a bare drive. I’ve got everything installed and running well except no matter what I do I cannot get past the “User Intervention Required” error message. Been through all the trouble shooting steps with no luck.

The HP Scan program works but I can’t print.

The only thing left is a TCP/IP port which I guess can be done by following this HP fix –

HP Printers - 'User Intervention Required' Error (Windows) | HP® Customer Support

This was a known issue with W10 and it would have been appropriate for MS to fix it for 11. Should I add the TCP/IP port and if so while I’m transitioning from 10 to 11 can I safely do that on the 10 machines then on the11 machine to make the transition easier?

Thanks, Winuser! Like others in this thread, my Brother MFC-J6920DW, with all the bells and whistles that will take larger than 11 x 17 paper wouldn't let me automatically print two-sided. Which meant it's pretty important to get it installed correctly so my bells and whistles work.

I deleted the printer, restarted, re-downloaded the drivers, and voila! Thanky, thanky, thanky!

I've always preferred Brother printers because they "just work" with each new Windows upgrade. I got stung with an HP color laser printer I had just bought when Windows 7 came out. Talk about your expensive door stop!

I'm glad my suggestion was able to solve your problem. I have a Brother HL-L2340DW laser printer and it works great. I have two other printers that I seldom use except for when I need a color print out or I need to do a scan. When it dies, I will look into buying a Brother all-in-one laser printer.
