ThinkCentre M920s DP++ to HDMI in TV is not working

Just acquired ThinkCentre (2001 mfg date) with 2 DP++ ports running win11. Using a passive DP-to-HDMI cable to TV as monitor, but doesn't work. Tried HDMI on second TV; same thing. Any ideas? I've never used DPs before. I'm thinking about buying a VGA-to-HDMI (needs USB power) or an old second hand flat screen monitor on craigslist.
