Tile view of Control Panel, Windows tools shows some by their GUID, not name

Hi, Control Panel, Windows Tools in Tiles view (the fixed default from the shortcut in Control Panel, small icons) looks like this:

- whilst in any other view, like this:

This is not so in Win 10 (Administrative tools). Both have Qttabbar installed - hence the colours.

Probably because it's a Virtual Shell Folder, there's no desktop.ini to tell it to show the Friendly App Name by default.

FWIW I have restarted but see the same thing.
Trying to search on this topic seems pretty unhelpful so far.

Curious that it's fine in Win 10, unless it's some side effect of ExplorerPatcher.

Yup. It's a pointless virtual shell folder! If you right click on an item and choose Open File Location, they all go to the Windows Tools and Windows Accessories folders anyway! 🤷‍♂️

That's cuz it's an actual folder with actual shortcuts.

I don't use those locations anyway cuz SAB puts them all neatly in the Start Menu for me.

Oh, agreed- Open Shell provides those readily .. it's merely a minor oddity, no real inconvenience. And as said, other views than Tile show it correctly.

Thanks- I'm guessing a side-effect of either Qttabbar or Explorer Patcher. Can't really think of another 3rd party possibility.

Both Edwin and I use Qttabbar and I've tried disabling its toolbar without effect, but not uninstalling it.

What else do you have installed? ExplorerPatcher?

You can always just delete the current items in that folder and replace them with defaults to see if that restores the naming for all views too..

Well plenty of other programs of course- some of which will add shell extensions. But I'd guess, as I said, possibly related to ExplorerPatcher of Qttabbar, both of which, as I said, I use.

I don't really want to be intrusive in trying to 'fix' it - the GUIDs are only visible in 1 view- which happens to be the default- so it's much more a matter of curiosity than real significance.

It's the same with the shell:appsfolder, right clicking on an item, there's no Properties.

I see no GUID's in mine...

But I did an In-Place upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11.
I do NOT use... QTtabbar, ExporerPatcher or StartAllBack.

i use neither qt nor ep and this one is the same for me as well, so...
