trying to install an older laser printer

I recently got a Geekom XT13 Pro mini computer and I have an older Samsung ML-1210 Laser Printer that I have been using on my old Dell PC running Window 10 with no issues. I installed the printer using a samsung universal driver for that printer that I had downloaded to the computer at that time since the original driver was out of date.
I do still have that driver download and I copied it to a flash drive to move it to this pc so I could continue using the printer since there are no issues with the printer. But I can't seem to get the computer to recognize the printer for printing. I plugged the printer in and installed the driver. The printer was then listed in the printers and scanners section but it says driver is unavailable and when I click on find driver it takes me to Download and install the latest printer drivers - Microsoft Support. I followed the steps to download and install the the drivers from the manufacturers website, clicking on the driver and completed the setup. I then get the screen to print a test page, the printer starts running, but it will not print the test page. I tried removing the printer and starting over again with the same results. I have done this a couple now and the results are always the same.

I then trying all of that selecting run as administrator but that did not work either.

I also went to the printers and scanners and selected the printer and the print test page but then I get a screen saying that there is no recently used printer and I can't search by address since I have no idea how to find it. The printer is not a wireless printer and is plugged into the usb port.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just now noticed that the printer is listed twice in printers and scanners. Once as Samsung ML-1210 (driver is unavailable) and Samsung Universal Print Driver

This thread claims to have a copy of drivers that work on W10, (which close enough to W11 for printing purposes).

this is the Samsung 'universal' driver which i believe will support your ML-1210
these drivers are dated 2015.

also there is a Samsung universal driver package available from HP
these drivers are dated 2024.

you may have to install the driver in compatibility mode.

Thank you so very much for those links to drivers. I didn't think about trying to install the driver in compatibility mode until about an hour ago, but I will check out those drivers and links first.

I finally got the printer working - at least doing the print test page worked! I tried the one from the notebooktalk site and when I unzipped that one, there were a bunch of different files in there but I could not find one that was the driver / installer for the printer.
I then tried the one from the HP website and selected properties>compatibility and selected to run in compatibility mode for windows 8 and then did the installation and it seems to have worked! I have not tried doing any print jobs yet, but at least now I was able to print that test page.

One thought, older printers sometimes have issues with USB 3 connections but work fine with USB 2. Since the mini-PCs are newer they may be using combination USB ports which may cause issues. Most newer printers also have Wi-Fi or Wireless Direct connections. I have 2 printers connected to my LAN Router via Ethernet cable and any computer whether Wired or Wireless/Wi-Fi that can access the Router can have the printers installed, usually get automatically recognized when Mapping a folder on the NAS drive or just making an Internet connection.

i had a ML-1210 for many years of solid service until i replaced it with a colour laser printer a few years ago.
