Trying to uninstall Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool - not installed

I just formatted my laptop but forgot to run the tweak to disable the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool before running Windows update so Windows Update installed it.

I tried uninstalling it using the command: C:\Windows\System32>wusa /uninstall /kb:890830 but I get an error message saying it's not installed even though I also see it under the history of installed updates under Settings > Windows Updates

What gives? I want it completely gone.

MSRT has a fixed KB number for tracking reasons, but it's not a real MSU or CAB package. It's provided as a self-installing EXE file.

Therefore "wusa /uninstall" doesn't work. You can remove it from "Programs and Features".

Go to...

C:\Windows\System32 look for and delete MRT.exe



But every Windows Update will reinstall it, unless you block it.
