Take a look at the video linked to below. It turns out that the price is NOT technically increasing. What Microsoft is really doing is pushing you into a higher tier product and making you pay for it. It's like having a Silver, Gold, and Platinum plan and they are nudging you into the next higher tier and making you pay for it without telling you that this is what they are doing. But you can contact MS and tell them you don't want this. This also gets rid of copilot.

There was a longer topic here where this is discussed. I happened to see this video yesterday. However you don't actually need to contact Microsoft. You can do this while logged in to your Microsoft acct. Basically you have to cancel current 365 plan then you'll get the options to select one of the "classic" plans that do not include AI crap.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
Thanks for this info. This AI stuff is starting to get on my nerves, although sometimes useful, most often for my use cases, totally useless though. For me it only complicates things rather than simplifying them.

Question about that...

I'm prepaid up until well into 2028. If I cancel my current plan how do I transfer it to the "classic" plan? Obviously, the cost is not an issue since I prepaid, but I am merely curious to know what would happen if I cancel, for example, if I wanted to get rid of copilot. Do I loose the license keys that I activated or do I get a "credit" when I cancel?

Yeah well, perhaps it is different in Canada. I cancelled, was granted the Classic only if I renewed, and then after renewing it stated that I would get the Classic after my first subscription ran out. Looks like I'll have to call them or wait.

I haven't used AI at all in O365 either...maybe that's why I don't get this change?

I'm a little curious about some things as well. My subscription was not up till April but I cancelled and renewed yesterday. I thought about that after I had already made the switch. I need to look at my MS acct and see what it shows.

Edit...Just checked my 360 acct and it still shows the April renewal date, so me cancelling and renewing didn't effect that.
