All these tech experts here I'd be amazed if there aren't quite a few with extensive TV knowledge. We are currently looking for a new TV setup and atm a Samsung OLED is favourite but Samsung TVs don't have Freeview Play. Our TV watching is predominantly UK freeview and we use a set top box a lot to record stuff. However we are hoping to avoid needing a set top box with a smart tv so will need to use catchup a lot. The questions really concern ease of use -
- is there an easy to use app that would provide the missing Freeview Play functionality?
- if not, is catchup quick and simple enough to use on smart TVs? At present it's only a few taps on the remote to access recordings on the set top box whereas if we use catchup via the router it's a right PITA.
- if we go for a different TV with Freeview Play is that satisfactory in terms of performance and ease of use?
If the forum really doesn't want to stray into this area I entirely understand - perhaps a mod could let me know?
