My motherboard or possibly CPU failed and I had to renew. As I had to do this I upgraded to components shown in my Windows Build/Version below.
The "new" PC was able to boot into Windows 11 (which I had upgraded to some weeks before hardware failure) from the original system disk. All apps and data were available as before - except for Flight Simulator 2020. Start - Flight Simulator fails saying "Can't open ... app not found ... storage device missing or not connected". Looking for it in Programs and features confirms it is not there, nor is it in either Program Files folders on my system drive. The Disk 1 of the program is in the CD drive.
I tried to re-install from the CD by running Setup.exe but all that happened is that the Microsoft Store was displayed and then nothing.
I assume that this is all due to the original installation thinking it has been installed on a second machine. Question is how do I reinstall it?

Flight sim as in the 2020 version? If you already own it on disc and its linked to you're microsoft account, You shouldn't need the disc, Should just be able to download it from theyre servers from the xbox app. Didn't know it actually came on a disc

Yes, I have the 2020 version and it came on 10 disks. I still had to spend hours downloading! To run I had to have the 1st disk in the CD drive.
In theory, unless there was protection somewhere, it could be loaded illegally onto second PC and a copy made of the 1st disk. I am assuming that the problem is that the protection checks with MS that I am the owner and is therefore refusing to load it on what it thinks is a different PC, which in a way it is. I had a similar problem with my Adobe software but that was easily solved - it just needed me to re-enter the codes. I do have a code for FS but I don't get any opportunity to enter it.

Unfortunately it seems the problem is not one encountered by the helpful guys on this forum - thanks for considering my question.
Is there any way I can actually speak to a human being at Microsoft?

Glad to hear you were able to solve your issue. Microsoft flight simulator is a great simulator.

It is, but in my younger years, I found flying real planes a lot easier!
