Unable to change default font size in Office Publisher 365

I am running Windows 11 and the Publisher version as supplied as part of Office 365.
I have tried various methods of changing the default font and size when I create a new Text box but none work - it reverts back to the previous default. I create a text box, set the text to (in this case) Times New Roman size 10, right click on the box, select Format Text Box and tick Apply settings to new text boxes, but when I then create new box, it reverts back the previous font and size. The others suggestions I found basically led back to the same method and bottom line.

Should be able to change size as well with above guide

I had tried that but that creates a new style - I still have to change the style after I create a document. Just as easy to change the font size!
But it gave me an idea to pursue - change the "Normal" style, but I can't overwrite it. if I can find where Publisher keeps it I may be able to get round this.

Semi given up! Instead of trying to change the default font, which is loaded when one simply clicks on New when starting , I have changed the default load, changed the font to what I want, and saved that as a template called "My default". So now I click New then select my "My default"
I still don't see why I can't change the default as I can in Word though!
