Solved Unable to open Excel files

I have a Windows 11 machine that is suddenly unable to open excel files when clicking on them directly. I'm using Office 2013. The error i get is: "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application". Strangely if I open excel, and then open files from there, it works. Excel is the default program for xlsx files and there is only 1 version of excel installed.
