Solved Uninstall Office 365 and install Office 2016 Pro Plus

Gurus,

Due to my laptop crashing I have had server problems with Windows 7 using Office 2016, Project Pro & Visio Pro.

All of the of the genuine software was purchased by me (in 2016) with Product Keys

The Windows 7 was preinstalled on my Vaio laptop, OEM.

The laptop is unstable so since I purchased it in 2011 I am suspecting hardware issues.



I have some questions…

Background - I have purchased a new Asus Laptop with Windows 11 preinstalled.

Also there appears to be a “trial” Office 365 installed.

I have tried to install the above Office 2016, Project Pro & Visio Pro software with Click and Run but receive that message that due to the preinstalled Office 365 being 64 Bit and my purchased software being 32 Bit no installation is possible.

I am reluctant to buy into Office 365.

/1/ If I uninstall the preinstalled Office 365 and then Click & Run the above software would the links still be valid?

/2/ If the links are no longer valid is there a purchasing scheme I can get this software at a discount?

Any suggestions on how to overcome this issue would be welcomed.

I'm not exactly a Guru, but I run Windows 11 (64 Bit) with Office 2007 (32 Bit). I also have Office 2007 installed on two Windows 10 PC. I've never had any problems with it.

I suggest using Office 365 until the trial ends and then de-install it. Then install your Office 2016. Just be careful with some of your documents. Office 365 may have some updates that Office 2016 won't recognize. But that is just conjecture.

Use Revo Uninstaller Freeware to remove Office 365. You can use either the portable version or the installable version of Revo. Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download
Once 365 is uninstalled use Revo's advanced system scan. Select everything Revo finds as leftover and then click delete. Occasionally, (but not often) Revo will tell you that something has to be manually removed.
Restart the computer and install your own version of Office.
(Note: If you purchased only a single use license for 2016, you will encounter registration problems for 2016 unless you de-register it from your old system first. You may have to activate it by phone) See this article for info Activate Office using the Activation wizard

I think that you can just uninstall the one you do not want then run the repair procedure for the one you do want. Others have reported that doing so resolved the situation for them.
Or uninstall both to start again from scratch.

How long is the trial. On some pcs you get up to 1 year.

So...

I have removed Office 365 and tried to install the 32 bit programes but no luck.

The Office 365 trial is for one month.

So now will explore where I can get Office, Visio & Project all 2016 in a 64 bit version.

Not happy with investing in MS software to be now valueless.

I think the problem lies in that 365 is not completely uninstalled.

I was unaware that Microsoft had an Easy Fix tool for removing Office 365. You might give it a try to make sure all remnants of 365 are gone. Then restart, Video: Uninstall Office

I would then run the troubleshooter. settings-troubleshoot-other troubleshooters-program compatibility troubleshooter
Just to make sure there are no corrupted system files preventing you from installing 2016, from an administrative command prompt run sfc /scannow

Until I bought Office 2021 a few months ago I had no problems running an old 32 bit version of Office 2007 so you should be able to install 2016.

Many of us here took advantage of an offer from Ghacks to purchase a lifetime license of Office Professional 2021 for $60. I see that their offer is back.

Update...

After further investigations I went to the setup.office.com site.

I put in my Product Key and downloaded a MS link for each software product.

I installed the software on the Windows 11 new laptop with after uninstalling Office 365.

At each installation a window appeared stating that the software was 32 Bit and gave the option of a 64 Bit download.

I accpeted the 64 bit option and all the software was successfully installed.
