Update =- Elbmek

I have been passed healthy from my Radiography course, running the length of July into Aug 2nd. A heartfelt thanks for the good wished on that one. However I contracted a savage cough in the past few days of therapy which is now (Sept16) finally dissipating. But now I have another thing to worry about. I have developed a cataract on the my left eye. It will (hopefully) be corrected under local anaesthetic shortly. Scared - yes!

Congrats on the all clear. Can they not do laser on the eye?

I have had both my cataracts removed and new lenses implanted. It is a simple painless operation and the actual op only takes about 10 minutes (all the preprep of eyedrops takes an hour or so).

The success rate is very high. I am like the Who now - I can see for miles and miles.

The only thing to bear in mind is the replacement plastic lens are totally transparent unlike natural lenses which are yellow. This means they let more light through and in very sunny conditions, it is advisable to wear sunglasses. Reactolite sunglasses are a good idea.

I have had a torn retina in my right eye and a hole in my retina on the left eye, both repaired with lazer surgery, one before my cataract operation and one after. I will keep you in my prayers @elbmek

Cereberus: They will local anaes the left eye, cut a small slit and take out the cataract. Then insert a silicon (I think) lense and stich up. They told me sun glasses may be required. I'll sort that out after. My only fear is that I dont keep still for 20 mins. The head will apparently be restrained. I'll learn more at the 'consultation'

Yep - the head is constrained. No need to worry at all - these guys do hundreds of these.

After it is done, you wonder what all the fuss was about LOL.

It takes about 24 hours to get full vision back. You have to be careful showering for a week. Really best to avoid showering above neck if possible.

Re. sunglasses I recommend ones with UV protection.
