One of the major and very annoying effects of that is that often when I click on a browser tag's x box to close it, the tab next to it is immediately closed as well. In this particular case, I had filled out a new post thread for another forum where I was seeking help. It was next to the one I intended to close, and it also was immediately closed. I could find it in the history as recently closed, but of course, when I reopened it, my forum post was empty. Now I have to type it all over again.

Is there some setting I can change to make the mouse not be so overly sensitive? It is also reeking havoc on my gmail interface. When I select an email item and read it, then click on the arrow to go back to the inbox, it selects all the items from the items selection box the appears in the location where the left arrow was before I clicked on it.

What brand/model of mouse are you using?

If you are using a Logitech mouse, you may possibly need to install G-Hub and adjust the DPI etc., depending on the model of mouse you have.

Also, check the mouse settings in Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse

Otherwise, you may need to be mindful of how you press the buttons, so that you don't inadvertently double click the button, that's happened to me more than once as well.

What is the enchance pointer precision option? I've tried not enhancing but still when I click to close a tab, the one next to it is also closed. Yes, my mouse is a Logitech, but it's not a gaming mouse. I just began noticing this effect after a recent Windows Update.

Enchance pointer precision simply means your pointer needs to be within the invisible target box, that surrounds a button, more accurately, or less fuzzy if that makes sense to you.

Try going to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse > Additional mouse settings and then adjust the Double-click speed. You want to speed it up a bit. Click on the yellow folder icon beside the setting to test the double-click speed. Too slow and it may register a double click even if it's accidental.

Default speed is 7 dots/lines on the slider.

You could also have some dirt/foreign matter stuck under your mouse button. Turn the mouse upside down and give it a few taps on the desk to help dislodge anything stuck under the button.

Also, try lifting the button on the mouse upwards and try to blow any foreign matter out of there.
