want to reinstall windows how to backup my game?

Hi

Guys i want to reinstall windows, how would I backup my game? My Game is through steam

also should I use the windows insider version ? or that doesn't matter ?

Hopefully you have a separate drive with your games on it. If not then you will have to backup your steam folder with the games in it to another drive and once you reinstall windows create a new steam folder and drop the game folders back into it before you reinstall steam and under preferences point it to your games folder if it doesn't find them on its own.

Steam is pretty good about file checking and probably won't even DL anything if all the files are still there as I do it pretty frequently without issue. Origin also does the same thing but I keep my software on a separate drive so when I clean install windows onto the boot drive the software on my other drives never goes away unless I want it to. The cloud is a wonderful thing when it works right.

Worst case scenario you have to reinstall steam and redownload your games which can take some time depending on your connection speed. Make sure that your authentication setup is right first so you can receive the steam code to get back in once you finish clean installing windows and steam.

I don't understand this point

So I was thinking reinstall windows / reinstall steam and then through the folder back in // does this sound correct ?

How many drives does your system have installed in it? Do you install windows and your software onto the same drive? Then you must copy what you want to save onto a separate drive that will not be affected by the wipe so you can put it back when you are done. If you have a 2nd drive where you install your games don't worry about moving anything and reinstall steam to it once you finish installing windows to your boot drive.

No I think I will just do a clean install, Because I also tweaked a few things in game file and it was not worth it

clean Install the Biggest Problem i have is PING in wayyyyy to high

Gotcha. I just know I had to search for the Elden Ring save file because it wasn't stored where you'd think Steam would store it. Sounds like a clean install might be worth it for you.
