I hope that is a joint of welsh lamb with mint sauce, duck fat roast tatties and cheesy cauliflower. Cannot think of a finer meal to eat whilst star gazing.

I know a total eclipse will be visible in a great swathe of North America, from Mexico to Newfoundland, but I have just discovered that I will be able to see a partial eclipse in Scotland, lasting 23 minutes. It will visible to those in the north west half of the UK.
If you draw a line from about Fowey in Cornwall to Berwick upon Tweed in Northumberland, then everything west of that line might just get a view of the Moon biting the edge of the Sun as it disappears over the horizon.

I saw a total solar eclipse in SF, California in 1979. The whole world seemed to lose it's color.

Ok... these are all from my phone. They're all when it passed totality and when it was on it's way outbound.
I only had 97% totality at best in Pittsburgh. :(

1. The top pic is when it was behind a cloud.
2. The dark, color pic is via phone, protected by glasses.
3. The other two are just reflections of the eclipse.

I just checked outside to make sure. Even after being eaten by a dragon, the Sun is... OK.
