OR over the internet.
I would like to connect my win10 PC to the webcam and allow the win 11 PC on the same LAN to see the video stream from the web cam.
Is there an easy and free way to do that?
I was thinking I can point the webcam to look at my front door, so if the doorbell rang, I can see who it is.
And since win 10 PC is always on, it would be nice to see the video over my android phone too. Like doorbell rings, grab phone and see who is there.

Why not simply remote connect to w10 pc using rdp (or app like Teamviewer over internet)?

in command prompt, ffmpeg does not work, could this be why it is erroring? I used the sample line from the splitcam log

C:\WINDOWS\system32> ffmpeg -i 720p@30fps.mp4 -c:v h264_nvenc -c:a libfdk_aac -b:a 128K -g:v 60 -preset:v medium -profile:v high -b:v 5000K -cbr:v true -rc:v cbr -maxrate 5000K -minrate 5000K -bufsize 5000K -f mp4 http://192.168.1.82:8080
'ffmpeg' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

I looked at this some time ago when My late Mother was ill, so I needed to monitor her whilst she kept some amount of control of her life.

I now use a number of these at home as apart of my home security precautions

I find this does the job as good as any of the more conventional Web or Security setups but is more flexible easy to mount inside or out ( they have specific Outdoor units available)

I works with my Android phone but I believe also with Iphones, and I have a number at home now that allow me to monitor inside and out night, (includes IR lighting for Night use) and day, this also works from anywhere I have a phone signal - they are UPS powered and WiFI connected so are simple to use, can be set to record on activity and also sent alerts

For the cost they are selling for, from a well known maker I strongly recommend them

They can be setup to work with a number of Open source security PC apps , but I find It's easier to just use the Microsoft MY Phone App until the new Android sub system is fully working

Also noticing so many web cam softwares are streaming to other internet dedicated streaming web sites. The few I have tried for LAN streaming, keep erroring.
like splitcam, webcamsurveyor, vlc. etc... just cant get any to work. Maybe the LAN stuff is so locked down now due to security issues. Don't know, I don't know what I am doing either.

What I do is connect the Phone to the TP-Link Camera ( actually in my case multiple cameras, I have a number of fixed cameras covering strategic access points to my Flat, and two external One Front One Rear)), .

I can then receive alerts and view feeds (live and recorded), on my phone, I can then run the phone app using the MY Phone app on my PC or Laptop I can setup multiple monitor views using the TP link app, ( free on Android)

The best thing about this system, is you can add cameras as you need and it all works out of the box

Found another like this

Yes, may have to think about a wifi camera instead then. Max length from wireless router is maybe 10 feet. And needs the motion detection with alerts.
I do like the idea of 2 way talk, good night vision. I also have Alexa Echo Show 8, so works with phone and Alexa Show.
For monitoring front door, It would sit behind glass so has to work that way or maybe could be mounted outside, I have a 2 foot overhang over entire front of house, so no rain gets there.

I can only speak for the TP-Link units that I know - TP Link are a company I've worked with for many years for Network Hardware - I would personally take care with unknown manufacturers for any security usage, they may be as good as the known makes, but they need to be vetted carefully.

As for outdoor use there are TP-Link cameras for all weather use , they have external antenna and a better Resolution lens, you can also get internal camera that have moving lenses so can be set to scan an area regularly

As for looking through glass I have two that are set to do this and there are no issues that I can see, except that you will have reflections from the IR lenses at night, although we cannot see the IR range they can affect camera sensors

Found another one with more good reviews, plus a bunch of videos.

One nice thing is monitoring remotely by phone, or Alexa, but nothing mentioned about a PC, seems to also do automatic motion tracking.

Well, I bought a terrible product, IMO, even though it has 4.5 stars and thousands of very good reviews. Hint is its name begins with Blu.... with 4 letters after. So I am sending it back to Amazon as it does not work. It had a hard time connecting as the phone app defaults to whatever wifi access point it is using, which happens to be 5ghz, and I did not notice that at first. So change it in the app to my 2.4ghz network then amazingly disconnects the android phone from the router, and have to log the phone into 2.4ghz just for the setup of the camera...can be switched back later.

Then when turning on motion recording. instead of a solid stream of several minutes after it first sees motion, it records literally thousands of 1 or 2 or 3 second videos. They fill up the library of recordings to the point it's totally unusable. More than half the video tiles show someone else's strange living room scene, while the others show the first frame of the video, which are all exactly the same picture, and which tile picture appears in the library seems to be totally random. Imagine in a period of several hours, thousand of 1 or 2 second videos appearing in your recordings, And there is no way to tell what is what, even with them time stamped, it is worthless, to have to scroll thru all that. The other thing is the long delays, I count 10 seconds from the time motion is detected and it makes a 1 second recording for it to appear in the library and pop up a phone notification, that is a long time for security issues. And then there is a longer delay of almost a minute after the phone gets a notify event, for you to be able to view the 1 or 2 second video. That is way too long. Like here I am sitting in my room. someone comes to the door and rings bell, it takes their system 1 minute or longer to be able to show that person on the phone. A video tile appears on the phone app so you know it made a recording, but if you click to view it says unavailable, error, blah blah. So you have to click again and again till their server catches it up to show it in the phone app.

I left it running for hours in the room, not outside looking at the TV from about 10 feet away. And it kept picking up motion from us moving around or the TV. One time I walked by, it tracked me, another time it turned away from me and looked at the side of the couch. So I went over to it and waved at it and started to track me again. Every bit of motion got a new tiny video recording. Videos also don't look to be smooth, I did force it to record longer if I kept jumping in front of the lens, the recordings then were longer, but if it stops seeing motion it stops recording.
The TV kept triggering motion recording, but it of course stops when the TV scenes are not moving.

So for the few longer recordings, you will get more of a stop motion effect, it is not smoothly collecting video, more like putting bunch of snapshots together to form a kind of video.

And I have a modern LAN, with Verizon FIOS high speed internet. My LAN is 1000 gbits, wireless is N and AC, camera connects at N speeds

Have just did a little testing I currently have 6 cameras running, and am using the My Phone app to check outputs - The Tapo from TP-Link takes a second or so to show a live image from the app main screen, if i need to go back to a previous time this takes longer, as you have to scroll back to a time using a "Time Bar" on screen. I would estimate a few seconds to find the content from the bar which shows a marker for each live action recording so is more difficult if there is a lot of activity - It takes very little time to go back an hour or so and start playback, there is an option to slow down or speed up replay so it's possible to find things specifically quite quickly

Hi barman, I got my Logitech webcam c615 to finally work as a security cam running on windows 11 PC using Yawcam software.
All the things-programs I tried, etc... and Yawcam is the only one that worked.

I get one console error regarding the JRE version, so I joined their forum to ask about it.
It says this,
[17/2 10:03] Warning: System Events not supported in this java version. Upgrade to java 9 or above!

Eventually I will install it on the win 10 PC.
Have to open ports and what not.
It works best over the LAN, but also does work over the internet.
Hardest part of getting it going is opening router ports and windows firewall.
Not saying it is easy, but it is the easiest app so far I have tried, and best of all it actually works.

I am streaming it now for a while. Next step is perhaps setting up the motion detection.
It will notify by email when motion detected, play a sound or not, run another program etc...

Thanks very much!
That got rid of the error message in Yawcam

Maybe it will work better than the Java ver 8

Motion detection works good. And it records the video in avi format in /temp, or wherever you want
I set it to delete older videos greater than 30 days and directory size not to exceed 10gb
