Well, here's where they found all the cheese steak hoagies I've eaten...

Just got back home.
Spent three days in the hospital... they stitched the Carotid artery shut, after removing all the cholesterol...
and super glued the muscles and skin shut after that.

The sorest part after the surgery, was the right side of my Adam's apple and throat.
From the intubation.

Ofc, I hadn't had much sleep. The VA has beds that are possessed by evil.
And ofc the oxy-codone pain killers didn't make me very... chipper.





No, I don't have a double chin. That's just left over swelling.

And one of the surgeon was... gorgeous. ^^

Well, they had to open my Carotid and remove all the cholesterol.
They did a... right - Carotid endarterectomy.

All seems to have gone well. None of the "bad" side effects, like drooping face, speech problems, stroke... etc.
Attached is an actual pic of my neck, 2 days after the surgery. Looks ghastly, but doesn't feel all that bad.

I guess I'll have to eat a lot of cheese steak hoagies to replace all that cholesterol.

You’ll heal nicely. Besides, there are some people out there that think scars are hot. No me, I always want to open someones wound to see how far I can get my fingers in there. To the knuckle is usually the answer.

Rub vitamin E cream on the scar a few times a day. Make sure your fingers are clean.
After a couple of weeks, rub PawPaw ointment of the scar a couple of times a day.

Mid September, a 3 inch incision in my neck. You can hardly see a thing. Wait till the binding subsides a bit. Surely your surgeon said to use Vitamin E cream?

You can barely see this 3 inch incision. It’s under the red line I drew. Bad photo but nobody home to help me.

Granted, the surgeon said he followed the creases in my neck.

Wow you're healing fast! The 5 and a half inch scar I inherited last month hasn't nearly healed to that extent. And yes, I'm using vitamin E.

Well... I guess now I can tell the real story.

Ya see, there were these Ninja squirrels... they came at me in force.
It was a tough battle, but I got them all... or so I thought.

Just when I was sure it was all over, above and a little to my right, I heard a blood curdling ai-eeeee...
That was when I felt the cold steel of the Samurai sword, hit my neck.

I slapped one hand on my neck and with the other, grabbed the last squirrel.
Fortunately for me, he had dropped the sword.
That squirrel fought and spit, and cursed me to high heaven.
But I hung on.

Then along came a 27 pound cat, with hunger in his eyes. So I tossed the squirrel to him and called 911.
That was the last I saw of that squirrel, curse his bones.

The nurses were cute, the anesthetic was wonderful, and they patched me up, good as new.


Morale of the story: Beware of... Ninja squirrels! There's always one you don't see. ^^
