What are the rules with animated cursors inside animated cursors?

When did animated cursors act like multisize cursors and was able to live inside a single .ani file? I could get 32,48,64 sizes in one file. However, when I tested them, I couldn't create random sizes. I got corrupted ani files that wouldn't load on my windows 11. Not even sure they load on older version of other windows.

I tried so many random combos, some work, some don't. Is there some kinda rule, or is this a bug? Unlike .cur files you can jam pack any size up to 256x256 and windows will display it.

You can also ask the UI designers who may have experience in creating artistic cursors. After all, this is more a technical forum rather than artistic. Some of them can be found on DeviantArt.

No, this is a technical question for people who know. Old school cursors are 32x32. But since windows XP (or earlier), you can put multiple sizes in them. One file contains up to sizes 256x256. Windows will scale the cursor based on the DPI setting.

When did animated cursors have the same feature? And why is it so bugged out? Anyone who created multisize cursors should know what I mean. I am trying to figure out if there is a rule for animated multi size cursors.
