Hi there

It sounds a bit like "Consultant B/S". Until decent algorithms for A.I (Artificial Intelligence) advance a LOT more significantly then for Home users - you are infinitely likely to possibly suffer from SCAMS, and identity theft rather than any malware emanting from either onedrive or Ms office -- especially if you don't open email attachments from dubious places, open cloned web-sites offereing tax refunds etc and don't give out too much info on social media sites.

For HOME users Windows defender has robust security in it these days -- it's far too much work for a hacker to break into HOME computers to rip you off of 50 USD or so. For Corporates / other work type networked computers other considerations apply.

Advice is as always use the Net properly, stay safe and NEVER give out too much personal data - especially passwords etc. Then you can ignore most of the paranoia around Security. I doubt whether the North Korean Intelligence service wants to steal a few miserable EUR's from my (tiny) bank accounts. !!!

That said adding more security to an OS is never in theory a bad idea but it can get overdone and if poorly implemented can actually make it worse.

I remember one workplace where passwords were created automatically which you had to use and was some hideous 16 char string of random letters and digits -- people couldn't remember these obviously so started writing them down and leaving in some cases even stuck on the monitor via a post it sticker !!!!

Basically MS scans files in outlook and onedrive with 3rd party AV and also checks for malicious links.
Paid version has also some extra features, like you can restore the whole onedrive to the selected date.

Basically in OneDrive there is a thing called 'Ransomware Recovery' or something like that and it restores your Files if a ransomware attack happened. It also has a Private Vault which you can only access and if an attacker gets into your OneDrive they will not know the Vault's Password. You can also Password Protect folders in OneDrive to prevent someone from getting stuff from that Folder. Outlook scans your email attachments and checks the links you click in real time for viruses or phishing scams to prevent your information from getting stolen or leaked. OneDrive can protect confidential information, encrypt your email, prevent forwarding. Also Microsoft Office it self has some safety features such has Macro Disabling, Security Alerts for files, Password Protect files and Protected view.
