When Windows 11 is finally released, what will happen to all the Windows Insider computers that are running it and not meet requirements? :think:

Theory? They should keep on running. MS is allowing them to use it now so there's no reason to think they'll not let people to use them.

Actuality? MS could shut it down for not compliant PC's. Until that date comes when the RTM comes out we are all guessing.

I doubt that Microsoft will do anything drastic. They have said that they won't support incompatible hardware, and expect those to revert to Windows 10. To me, that means no updates.

You're likely correct. I doubt they want to hand out free OS's to non compatible hardware.

if microsoft follows it's plans as standard for the transition between beta and release preview the restrictions would come into force and those who's systems do not meet requirements will refuse to update. these users would then be expected to reinstall a licenced copy of Windows 10. or upgrade hardware

Technically there is no reasonable path to update a beta preview OS to a released version and a fresh install should be required. this is in order to remove any checkpoints and diagnostic code in the beta code.

Microsoft could allow the upgrade for those who's hardware meets requirements but they would need to strip out all the beta routines that would slow down the OS, which could result in instabilities

I don't know, but one thing is certain; Windows 10 can be reinstalled and they'll run for at least another four years.

Since you only have so much time to revert to Windows 10 after updating to Windows 11, I can't see MS rolling them back to Windows 10.

Most likely, you'll be told your hardware can't run Windows 11 and it'll be up to you to reinstall Windows 10.

It will continue running Windows 10.

My PC does not have TPM chip, i modified installation DLL file to upgrade to Windows 11 there is always a way.

The problem is, what if you installed Windows 11 on via a registry hack as I HAD to do on my desktop, Microsoft will use a dual approach and put out a few upgrades (besides security updates) to Windows 10 until 2025 but what they will about "non-compliant" hardware after October is anybody's guess,

Registry hack works for clean installing Windows 11 not for upgrading to Windows 11.

Microsoft has removed the requirements for the duration of the pre release period, this is to better understand what is the real hardware limits for the OS.

At release I am expecting a slightly modified set of restrictions to be fully applied. Also at this time I expect all the currenly known ways to circumvent the restrictions to be fully patched in the release edition.

After this point I fully expect other workarounds to appear which Microsoft will patch and the merry old dance will continue until the number of incompatable systems in the wild will reach Microsofts acceptable limit

Microsoft and any other software developer will be using the workarounds as they are releasd to help patch the OS. This is not new, and is part of the reason for open beta programs which the huge variation in hardware used to run Windows demands

In actuality, I think Microsoft will ease up on the requirements.
I read an article 2-3 days ago, that someone already hacked TPM/Secure Boot.

So whatever reason Microsoft is pushing TPM/Secure Boot... it ISN'T for better security.

I have no idea how, but to me it seems more likely that all this TPM/Secure Boot stuff has more to do with steering us all towards a Windoiws 365 subscription model, than for any actual security reasons.

Just my opinion of course.

Despite all that's happening on the surface, Microsoft has been talking about a subscription model for... years.
Office 365 was nothing more than a test bed.
A subscription model has been Microsoft's true intent, for a long time.
Everything else is probably just smoke and mirrors.

Just been sitting here thinking: How could TPM/Secure Boot difficulties, steer us towards a subscription model.
Ghot swallows two Atomic Conspiracy pills, which gives Ghot the power of 10,000 conspiracy nuts for a period of 60 seconds...

1. MS makes ridiculous hardware demands for Win 11. People get upset about having to purchase "more" hardware, and are then much easier to herd into the Windows 365 subscription model.

2. MS somehow uses TPM/Secure Boot as an easy way to verify that a person claiming to be the owner of the Win 365 subscription... is actually the true owner.

3. .....still working on a 3rd possibility. In the meantime, see reason #1.
