By mistake, I think I may have saved the Fan setup from the BIOS to the wrong location. I clicked save without checking that I selected the USB stick. It shows up in Macrium as per the image. What can I use to view the contents of this partition and delete the fan setup file (if I can see it).

Hi,
The partiton in red ?
That is likely a recovery tools partition
Use a prior made system image and drop it on the red one.

That looks like the Recovery partition.
Look at it in Disk Management.

In Macrium... it's RED because it's too full.

In your BIOS, on the Save & Exit tab, you can "save" your current BIOS settings to a "profile".

Here is the link to your BIOS settings (PDF)...

You can also save your BIOS settings to a drive or a USB stick.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
Hi,
Only way to read the partition is to add a drive letter
Once don't Done remove it.
Easiest is to replace it off a existing system image and be done.

What can I use to view the contents of this partition and delete the fan setup file (if I can see it).
MiniTool Partition Wizard has a Partition Explorer that can see (but not change) the contents of any partition. This is my Recovery partition.

Looks like I'm stuck. Disk Management doesn't let me add a partition number.
I don't have a good Marcium Backup that I can replace the contents of that partition.
I saved a Profile to a USB as Ghot suggested, but not sure how that will help.

I will download the MiniTool Partition Wizard tool to see if I can spot the BIOS fan setup file/s.

OK, it doesn't look like I have anything that shouldn't be in there. So me thinking I saved the fan setup to it is incorrect. It's just large.

Yeah ctrl+f12 or shift+f12 I can't remember which usually will save a text file to a removable fat32 device.

MS should reuse the RE no matter what it's size.
Worst case the idiots won't lol

Yes, that's because the .wim file is a Windows Image file, a fully functional OS in its own right. It is what you boot from to get to the Windows Recover Environment.

The link showing how to increase the recovery partition is beyond my knowledge and understanding. I could shrink the OS partition by 250mb in disk management but I don't think I have the option to expand the recovery partition.
I'm not getting any errors and MR loads the RE to do restores. So I'm just about OK partition size wise. But it would be useful to make it larger to future proof it.
Surely, if this is something MS has messed up with an update, it is down to them to fix it in a future update yes?

No, Disk Management can't do that.....

I will download the MiniTool Partition Wizard tool....

Thanks Bree. I reduced the OS partition by 250mb using Disk Management and extended the recovery partition using MiniTool Partition Wizard to take up the unallocated space. All sorted.
