Whats a good power supply for my system?

I got my power supply back from evga after the power supply before this one blew up and now when my system is under load i get this whining noise which is annoying. I like too play games like GTAV,Hitman,Control etc (if that helps)

Vouch for Seasonic.

Seasonic FTW, PC Power and Cooling as a second choice.

The only power supplies that I buy for myself are Seasonic. If I had to build and a Seasonic were not available, I would buy a Corsair. Years ago, with a Corsair 620HX, I experienced some coil while with an Nvidia card and moved to Seasonic after that . No issues ever with my Seasonic's and they have a 10 year warranty.

Back in the day, PC Power & Cooling were the absolute best.
Then they got bought by OCZ, and they were never the same after that.
OCZ got bought by Toshiba, and then someone else after that.

I still have two of the original PC Power & Cooling power supplies (750W)
They've got to be 12 or more years old, and they are still going strong.

@OldMike65 might have a different opinion of seasonic psu's

I've always used evga P2 series frankly they're made by super flower which if you have that brand available in your region they are the best imho.

EVGA would also be a brand I would go towards if I couldn't find a Seasonic. I've always bought EVGA video cards and been very, very happy with them.

Funnily enough, I am a huge eVGA GPU fan (RIP) but I've never used their PSUs. I have one that I got as a part of abundle when I got ,y current GPU, and my sister is planning a desktop build after using only laptops for decades, and to help her save a bit of money, I gave it to her.

When building this rig, I actually wanted the eVGA 1600W or 1300W PSUs, or a Seasonic 1200W, but none of those were available at time of building, so I picked the PCP&C, as it seems their massive downward slide was halted recently, and their products are getting close to the days of old.

So, yeah, I should have mentioned eVGA as well.

I have always used corsair psu's I have had a rx850 for over 12 years and still going, every time I would go to microcenter the seasonic would be sold out so they must be good. and just thinking I always use a battery backup power stabilizer on all my computers maybe that's why mine last so long.

Another vote for EVGA, just don't get their low tier ones (non 80+). Also, like Antec, but the same rules apply - no low tier models.

Seasonic and Superflower are the top 2 in design and manufacturing quality, component quality, and performance (and warranty). They also make the supplies as original equipment manufacturer for many brands that aren't in the power supply design and production business (e.g. EVGA, Corsair, Asus, Antec, etc, who use other OEM manufacturers as well, so are a mixed bag with some good and some not so good models). So these two are your best bets.

PS - don't go too cheap, this is the heart that powers (and can protect or damage) all of your equipment.

I suppose that Corsair AX1200i is still king in heavy duty OC'ing (benchmarking hobby), due to that extreme low ripple of just 12mV it has on the +12V rail when measuring at full load. But it's an aged platform, and, if OC stability is not the absolute highest priority, but you're running a power hungry workstation or a high end gaming rig that's OC'd to actually play some games on, then my vote has to go to the Enermax MaxTytan even though the latter PSU may look unreasonably overpriced (but looks can be deceiving alright).

Most computers use only a very select range of voltages. 3.3V, 5V and 12V being common. But in all my decades of nerding, I have never lost data due to a mains failure. But I have had a PSU catch fire. If I was worried I would want a UPS that provided only D.C. outputs. Why generate AC from a battery backup that is immediately rectified to DC?

Where I live, we tend to lose mobile networks during a power cut, so I have a small motorcycle battery and a 12V travel adapter that will power my BT Business router . I think the phone line will still give me broadband, but I have yet to prove this.

My router has a 12V input but the travel adapter will keep its output steady at 12.0V from a freshly charged 13.6 to a dying 10V.
