Windows 11
Many of windows OS are passing the next number from current OS, why is it like that skipping the next number? I know its not that important but it can make us bothered why it is happening. Thank You.

Weeell, they went from 3.1 through at least seven versions to the great 7, and then to 8 and 8.1, and skipped 9. I think the sequence was Windows 1.0 – 2.0; 3.0 – 3.1; 95; NT (3.1 – 4.0); 98; ME; 2000; XP; Vista; 7; 8 – 8.1; 10. I'm not sure I see a skipping pattern there. In fact, I'm not sure I see a pattern there at all.

I give ME and Vista two thumbs down. Widows 7 and Windows 10 get two thumbs up. Time will tell about Windows 11.

Interesting observation, Ghot.

I was fortunate, I suppose, ...XP > 7 > 10

Just have to add, 7 was my favored OS.

I did the same... XP > 7 > 10

But the MS pattern is even longer.

95 = bad
95 OSR = good
98 = bad
98 SE = good
ME = unmitigated disaster (aka... really bad)
XP = good
Vista = bad
Seven = good
8/8.1 = bad
10 = good

I couldn't imagine if the MS Windows developer teams now were thinking of the same pattern mentioned above.

Would they take it? Or break it? 😯

XP was a total PITA the hours I spent removing the Disney inspired Luna Look were not a happy time, I usually specced Win2K but eventually this became unavailable - OK one or two systems are not an issue but Tens a week - not a good thing.

and it never ran any better than Win2K

I was so glad when Vista came along, it was stable and most of all it was not XP :p

It really does make me laugh when I see all these people saying XP good, they clearly only ever heard about XP after SP2 which was tbh a different OS and never used it.

XP was a dog for the first few years, I had some Whistlers betas that performed better than the RTM.

2k was my go to OS at the time.
