Personally, I would reinstall Windows 10 on a non compatible pc I was selling to avoid any issues with seller saying you misled them if anything goes wrong with Windows 11.
If you get a 'Yes' answer I would be very surprised, as it's pretty obvious that, before offering the 22H2 'feature update' via Windows Update, the system is subjected to an online check to confirm that it is compliant with the MS stated Windows 11 minimum installation requirements. How else could MS target the roll out limits and blocks that it does and/or exclude qualifying computers with hardware that has known/unresolved issues?
How long ago was that? The Insider builds were deliberately a little lax on cpu checks. That may not have been tightened up in the first retail build.
I recall using one of the early release builds to test the 10 to 11 upgrade on a Dell with everything compatible except its 6th gen processor. That required no workaround. MS have tightened up checks in subsequent builds. Later builds would require workarounds, as does the 22H2 build.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Correct, you need to follow the ISO upgrade/regedit method to get to 22H2 on unsupported HW.
My problem with 22H2 is that ClassicShell no longer worked. Openshell now seems stable as replacement and worked on 22H2.
Explorerpatcher also applied on 22H2.
Most people who have a particular version of Windows on their PC buy it preinstalled. Mine came with Windows 10 and being a geek, I successfully upgraded to Windows 11. There are people who can't or won't move to a new feature build on Windows 11, so keep that in mind when selling them an unsupported PC.
Just a thought, I have a wee notebook on my breakfast table- it prvided a message (my windows 11 has reached end of service) - please update - - the new windows formats require a smaller set of CPUs. (windows is playing the hardware obsolescence - marketing game - it seems)

If you are running Windows 11 23H2 on it, then there is a known issue that it incorrectly says End of Service. This is untrue, 23H2 is in service until Nov 2025. Mine says the same thing, read my thread here....

As for the restricted set of CPU's for 24H2, if you have used a workaround to get 23H2 running on an unsupported device, then it's CPU requires the SSE4.2 instruction set to be able to upgrade it to 24H2. I have a little old netbook, happily running 23H2, but it can't run 24H2.

If Windows 11 is installed on ineligible hardware, your device won't receive support from Microsoft, and you should be comfortable assuming the risk of running into compatibility issues.
