I assume adding a compatible TPM module to my ASUS MB will solve the issue & allow Windows 11 to install?

If it can support a TPM then yes, with a high probability. But don't rush this, we still don't really know why (and how much) a TPM is actually needed, and if you are already a member of the insider program then you will be able to install without meeting these requirements. Besides, I believe it will then be trivially easy to just bypass those checks anyway, since the insider build will not check for it, it seems

And that it is the correct version. Watch for dishonest people to try to sell 1.2 modules as 2.0 modules.....

You don't need it, you can just enable fTPM in the advanced section of your bios.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
You beat me by....🤏 much. :D
I have a feeling a lot of the people that think they don't have TPM have a firmware version on their board that is not switched on.

Definitely. As you mentioned the other day... you found yours under PTT.
Tonight I found it under Advanced > PCH-FW Configuration... for someone else.

On a ROG Strix x299 motherboard.

/edit

I checked the other day on the ASUS AMD boards. x370, x470, and x570... all have it in there. Usually on the Advanced tab.
Some (higher end ASUS boards) have the firmware or discrete selections.

You don't need it, you can just enable fTPM in the advanced section of your bios.
Thanks for that. I am a Windows Insider, however, I'm not as computer literate as most. :( I haven't downloaded the ISO for install yet to see if that errors.

With the advanced setting set to enable I still get the error when using the PC Health Check.

I don't have an AMD, but I read one of the posts earlier that said changing the discreet TPM option sorted it.

My ASUS AMD MB is an x370 & has fTPM enabled but I get the not Windows 11 compatible error. Should the BIOS setting be set to Firmware TPM?

The ASUS MB user manual says the TPM is an optional module (about $25). A software scan doesn't find TPM present on my PC even though I have fTPM enabled.

Sounds like I would need the module to turn "Enable TPM" on. I can enable it but there's no module.

Sounds like I would need the module to turn "Enable TPM" on. I can enable it but there's no module.

Just change it from Discrete TPM to firmware TPM (fTPM), and you're good to go.

The new software thing I'd never heard of until I started looking around yesterday for answers to TPM questions. Microsoft has docs related specifically to TPM, see Trusted Platform Module (Windows 10) - Microsoft 365 Security

Some of the Group Policy items listed in this sub-link TPM Group Policy settings (Windows 10) - Microsoft 365 Security make me think I'm on the right track in thinking that Microsoft will be enforcing this requirement for Win11. And here TPM recommendations (Windows 10) - Microsoft 365 Security is their own doc explaining why they want 2.0 over 1.2.

Here's Chris' take on it: What is a TPM, and Why Does Windows Need One For Disk Encryption? - from back in 2017, just a small while after the TPM 2.0 spec went live.

This page shows how TPM is already used (if configured correctly) in Windows 10. TPM recommendations (Windows 10) - Microsoft 365 Security

Here are the slides from a presentation that Dr. Wilkins presented at UEFI Spring Fest, 2016 - https://uefi.org/sites/default/files/resources/Phoenix_Plugfest_TPM2_March_2016.pdf

Finally, here is a listing of the different 'types' of TPM offered. https://trustedcomputinggroup.org/wp-content/uploads/TPM-2.0-A-Brief-Introduction.pdf

I expect Microsoft to maybe pick one of these as a minimum requirement (for consumers, quite possibly firmware, not integrated, which several users have shown is working for the health check.

But this is Microsoft we're talking about - and boneheaded decisions abound from them, sometimes.

Thanks. I tried toggling to "Firmware"& the PC Health Check still said no Windows 11. I attached an image of "Trusted Computing" which indicates Enabled.
Could it be Intel CPUs have this built-in but AMDs need the TPM module?

No. I'm running an AMD 3700x and I passed the Check.
And that was with, just, fTPM (firmware TPM)

No they both have software versions, the Health Checker is not working correctly and your CPU may not be on the official supported list (which is BS) nor is a lot of higher end slightly older Intel's.

I assume you know it needs to be in UEFI Mode not legacy Bios Mode with CSM disabled and the SSD/HDD GPT partitioned not MBR..

Now it is true that your CPU is not on MS's list...but I think that might be an oversight... I don't know.

Windows 11 supported Intel and AMD processors...
