Windows 11 Pro - 21H2 (OS Build 22000.1335) (Up to Date - but not yet 22H2)
Hello

Will updating to 22H2 work to Fix Corrupted Windows files etc; so that I won't need a fresh install?
Will all my files and settings and installed programs stay as they are if I do that?

I've got various little, to bigger problems with my installation; and I'm wondering if this would be a better route to a fix as I really hate doing a fresh install?

I've just run these two steps; and strangely it all came back 100%?
Which is odd - because there is definitely stuff which has not working right for a long time (including Windows stuff itself eg File Explorer and Settings not working right + things like MS Edge glitching too)

So any other ways to fix Corrupted Windows stuff without a fresh install... ?

if not; am I right in assuming that if I download an install image from MS now from their site (rather than winupdate) - that it should be for Win 11 22H2?

Thoughts, advice ?

Thank you for your help

Frequently folks have had issues fixed after installing the latest Version and Build updates to it. And Not necessarily on the download using the MCT/Media Creation Tool, I've found it to be one or two Build updates behind what Patch Tuesday has offered.

Hello

Interesting to hear...

However, is there always a way to download the latest official Win 11 Pro Image from somewhere official - if you want to do it that way?
If so - from where exactly?

Thank you for your help

Might check the Tutorials and some other posts about updating, there are posts about different methods. I haven't needed them so can't vouch for the "official" part.

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Get the Windows 11 ISO image and save it to your desktop...

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

You are running an outdated version "Windows 11 Pro - 21H2 (OS Build 22000.1335)" Doesn't help. You could look at uup dump There are options there that may help. I think that An In-Place Upgrade Is your best bet. Of course, Ghot covers that but I'm just reiterating. But here is a direct link so you can just download it. Download Windows 11 The links I am posting may help others reading this post.

NO! Your build is outdated. Always download from the official site as per my post #7. Never use these links that pretend. If you're going to download a Windows ISO NEVER use a third-party link. Download only from the source. Post #7

But 21H2 is not at Win 11 page anymore.
This is no different than using UUP Dump except it is faster as you do not have to compile the files to an ISO since you are downloading an official ISO from official Microsoft servers.
The Tool has Win 11 21H2 and 22H2 you just select win 10 to get the options.

A re install aside I think the OP needs to determine whether thier issues stem from software or hardware, for example a failing disk, controller, memory module, network components or user choice downloading apps and utilities.
Although not unusual to encounter corrupted files on occasion, if it becomes a regularly occuring problem then there may be reasons other than the OS being responsible and a re install of any type other than clean may not help.

I'm probably late but run
sfc: /scannow which will check and hopefully, this IS Microsoft remember, repair any file errors.
After it runs shut down, don't reboot and perform a cold boot.
