Win 11 running on a January, 2010 HP Mini!

I accidentally updated my HP Mini 210-1090NR from Win 8 to Win 10, so I thought, what the hell, and updated to Win 11.
Laptop has a 1.66GHz Atom processor with 2GB of RAM. It works, but I wouldn't say it was nippy!

Yes, I have a similarly spec'd Acer netbook of the same age. It's the least appropriate machine I have, I reckon that if I can run Windows 11 on this then it will run on anything.

Although OEM's that used the Intel Atom N2600 in my netbook state that the maximum RAM supported is 2GB, that not entirely true. It's true that it cannot address a full 4GB RAM, but when I put in a 4GB RAM stick 2.99GB of it was available to Windows. That, plus upgrading the HDD to an SSD, was enough to make Win11 quite usable on this little old netbook.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

And so it should. With its 1st gen i5-520M it's a thoroughbred stallion compared to these little Atom powered netbook 'donkeys'.

To improve performance you have to disable all visual effects, such as transparency and fades (both found under Settings, Accessibility, Visual effects). Then go to Settings, System, Info and click on the Advanced System Properties (or similar). Go to the Performance tab and disable more effects such as shadows, animations etc. I would also go to Task Manager, Startup and disable all non-antivirus applications such Java updater, Google updater etc. The same goes for non-Microsoft services in msconfig.

    Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.
