Today, March 1st 2023, the Calendar app (part of Mail & Calendar app) will not open - just a blank white screen.
Following internet advice, I tried 'Repair' the app - no good.
I then noticed the app has been updated today - coincidence ??

Mail app opening OK, but whether I try to open Calendar from within Mail or from Taskbar icon - same result - blank white screen.

Anyone else got this problem ?

Just tried it and yes, broken. It opened to a white screen for a second and then nothing.

(Snipping Tool is also broken for me after todays updates. Not remembering last saved location and file types)

If I close Edge and just click the Calendar icon in the Start Menu it is now fully opening the Mail App instead.

@wgt40w,

Welcome to the Forum. :-)

No such problem on my two updated machines. Calendar opens from both Mail app and Start All apps menu as expected.

Can you give us more information about what's happening and what you're doing when Calendar fails to open ?

Hmmm. I tried resetting and all those options. Nothing worked.

As a test I rolled back with Macrium to a couple of days ago. All good. Now update Calendar (no latest Windows Cumulative installed this time) and again it is broken.

I've turned off App updates in the store for now.

I wonder if any of us have anything in common here.

I use the dark theme and also have applied some of Brinks custom reg files for Icon and Font sizes for file explorer (the old icons/tooltips/title bars/message boxes that used to be customisable). Everything else is default W11.

The fix for me was Apps>Installed Apps>Mail and Calendar, scroll and select Reset. Then open Mail app and reregisted your account credential. Finally, reboot and now the Calendar apps should be working.

I tried a reset as you describe but the app still would not open at that point. I didn't try anything else like rebooting at that point.

Same problem here, I've raised feedback. Other users on the MS community are reporting it as well. It's not happening to everyone, so the app itself is not the problem but something is triggering the error since the app was updated.

I started a thread in the MS community here Redirecting

Others are now reporting the same issues, there are event log errors relating to Application Frame Host

I did not dare trying the 'Reset' as I believe this would cause a total loss of all my past, present & furture calendar events. Am I correct ?

I'm glad I started this Thread as in the past when problems like this have happened, I've often plunged in changing everything to try and achieve a fix - without first thinking - as now - to check and see if others are suffering the same problem.

It's the same with mine. I tried the reset route, but it's still broken. It tries to open but immediately closes. Odd thing is that the Calendar notification still works.

Same results here as well. Mail app opens. Clicking on calendar icon opens calendar for a couple seconds and then closes. FYI, I don't used these applications, but thought I'd see what results I were getting.

The reset clears local information only. When the account is re-registered the data is retrieved from the cloud, just like you IMAP emails. A reboot must be performed after the rest before trying to open the app.

What do you know, it worked after the reboot. Thanks a bunch @Quandary

I fixed the problem by going to the Windows Store and searched for Windows mail & calendar. It showed that there was an update available. I installed the update and that resolved my issue.
