Winaero's Windows 7 Games for Windows 11 not installing properly

After the demise of my old laplop, on which I had and daily played, Spider Solitaire (Winaero's great app), I bought a new laptop and have tried to install the Winaero app.
The installation seemed to go as expected, but on opening any of the games, they lack the Menu in the top left hand corner. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no success.
Please help! (I have to admit that at 75 years I am not as able in things computer as I was forty years ago!)

Me too. Have tried everything I can find. Hope you found a solution and will share it. I have 9 years on you. Not as able also.

Maybe try this... says it's fixed for Win 11.



Just tested them... they work !!

The package has been updated to version 4.2 on June 24, 2026. It fixes a bug with card games which stopped launching for some users.

Thanks for the reply. I had tried that url. It does not look like the Winaero Windows 7 games url, but it installs the same and in my list of apps it says it is Winaero. It runs the same as the one from the Winaero url for me. Just like RicharD, I get only the smallest Minesweeper with no menu to change to bigger ones. Solitaire runs OK, but there is no menu to change anything and control Z does not work. I've used Winaero games since I first converted to Windows 10 with no trouble on a few PCs. But after the demise of my Acer and replacing it with my new used Dell, the games are not working for me. I've tried everything I can find including: running in Windows 7 mode, changing DPI settings and running as Administrator. I'm not sure I can survive without occasionally turning off my mind and playing one of these games. But maybe I will find out that it will be OK

I have it installed on 2 of my machines. All games have all features. You have to run the executable as administrator when installing. I feel Winaero version would also have to be installed as administrator.
If you want to try my version, I'll be glad to share. You would probably need to first uninstall your version using Revo Uninstaller Free to get rid of all traces before installing my version.

I don't know enough! I was doing DOS since before Windows. I was never very good at it, but now 45 years later, technology has left me far behind, and my brain is not nearly as good as it was either. I am afraid of my PCs now. However I keep trying. Today, I tried again to install Solitaire and Minesweeper. I made sure I was installing as Administrator--I do not recall doing that in the past. Same result. I have not run Revo uninstaller--only the uninstaller from Winawero. However, I have a good copy of the games I want on my desktop that came from Winaero a year or two ago.. So, on my new/used Dell laptop, I renamed the Minesweeper.exe file MinesweeperX.exe and the file Minesweeper.dll MinesweeperX.dll. Then I coped from my desktop the good Minesweeper files. When I executed them, they functioned the same flawed way. I think I can conclude from this that the installations from Winaero were successful, but my new/used Dell Windows 11 has something set in a way that causes my Windows 7 games to not work properly. This Dell laptop came from local computer repair shop. He installed Windows for me a couple weeks ago. Best I can tell, everything else works perfectly. All help is appreciated.

Google AI, after I asked it everything I could think of, told me to see if in "Programs Files/Microsoft Games/Minesweeper" is there folder "en-US". It was not there, but it was in my working Minesweeper on another PC. Added the folder and pasted to it "Minesweeper.exe.mui" from my PC with a working Minesweeper. Now the menus are there and work OK.

Solitaire was fixed in similar way.

Haven't looked into seeing why those files did not install. If anyone would like me to work on that, let me know.
