Most newer PCs come with both VGA and HDMI; newer PCs don't have DVI.
If one of your PCs happens to have a DVI port, use a full DVI cable (DVI on both ends) for it. For the second PC, you may need to use a full VGA cable (VGA on both ends). If neither PC has a DVI port, you will need two VGA cables.
Attach the appropriate cable to each PC, leaving the "monitor" end "hanging free". Depending on which PC you're going to use, attach the end of that cable to the monitor, switching out as necessary.
I would suggest using an "anchor" for the end of the cable not currently in use so you won't have to fish for it if it "slithers away". All cables tend to slither if not attached to something! I've had my share of them slither.
BTW, if you had completed the My Computer specs I could have given exact instructions. Further, there are adapters that can change a cable from straight VGA to HDMI and/or DVI. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.
