Windows 11 downgrading my radeon drivers

Ive bought a rx 580 gpu. I install AMDs drivers from their webpage, and everything works fine.

I start WW3 game, and suddenly i get black screen (but computer is still working), monitor is not getting any signal. I restart the computer and i find that everything is disconfigured. My pc seems to be laggy, no transparency at windows UI. So i try to open AMD adrenalyn software, and i get this error:

So i disable windows 11 drivers auto-update via advanced settings and via local group policy editor. I uninstall AMD drivers software and install it again, and when i start it, everything comes back to normal. No more lag, UI with transparency enabled, the program starts correctly... Until i try to play WW3 again. As soon as i start the game, i get the issue again.

How can i fix this?

This tutorial will prevent Windows from updating your GPU drivers. It works, I have a Radeon VII, and the only time the drivers are updated is when I update them via getting them from AMD.

Have you upgraded to 22H2? This driver was causing me issues, but not anymore, it is just lurking there.

You can easily see what drivers got installed on your system by looking at "Driver Updates" via "Update History" - Settings, Windows Update, Update history, Driver Updates...

Indicates an issue with "WW3" (whatever that is). I doubt a driver is getting installed there. But again, it can be verified via Windows Update History. I suspect something else it is going on with the software.

If you are, Windows should not be installing AMD's GPU drivers. I know this as I've got an AMD card, and I'm running Windows 11 with Windows Driver updates disabled.

That said, what specifically is "WW3"? I can't help without knowing that answer?

And you should be able to run the latest Adrenalin Drivers (22.11.1) dated 11/15/2022. for that RX 580 (2017).

Sounds like the game is the cause of the issue?

The safest method to prevent Windows Update replacing your drivers is to run a tool such as Windows Update Show/Hide Tool or Windows Update Advanced manager (WUA) to hide (block) the respective updates. Download the tool to have it ready, install latest official AMD drivers for your graphics card, and then immediately run the tool and block the update before it is installed automatically. Next time you go to Settings and search for Updates there should not be there, so it won't install. You have to check once a week if there is a newer driver update you must also block. Just run the tool again and see if there is any unwanted update in the list.

No need to download any tools or third-party this or that software.

That said, I "think" the issue might be with the "WW3" game the OP references, but....

I have not read the method suggested in the link but blocking the update always works. You can also block unwanted non-driver updates that might cause problems in your system.

I didn't say it doesn't work, I just offered an alternative method.
