Windows 11 - Freezing/crashing problem.

Windows 11
Greetings!

I have been having some issues with my computer ever since I did a complete wipe & fresh reinstall of Windows 11 (I was previously on Win 10 where I had no issues).

I will go straight to the point.

Ever since I got on Windows 11, my computer randomly keeps freezing, locking everything up one thing at a time. I can be watching videos, playing games or just reading a document when it happens. But usually, since I have 2 monitors, I may have YouTube on one and perhaps a windowed game/program on the other.

It will essentially start with windows and then spread from one program to the next. When this event occurs I can in a limited manner interact with some things, like pressing buttons do give the the feedback of working. But nothing new loads and just sits there as if nothing happens. This applies to most things. I can get up the win 11 settings window, but not go further. I cant get control panel up, nor any explorer window.

Bottom line every time things start freezing for me, I have to use the physical power/restart button in order to reset the system. Doing it via windows only takes you to the windows shutting down window and just sits there forever. I have max waited 15 min before giving up. It dose not work.

The main problem I am having is, I cant seem to find anything in the windows logbook that points to any specific issue or errors. As if whatever this is, is not being noticed by the OS. I dunno...

In today's example, which happened around 17:40-17:59~ my local time (Sweden). I had Samsung dex on with a game running, YouTube (firefox) running on the other monitor. Nothing to special. I was using my Bluetooth headset listening while cleaning. While giving a command to the game running, I noticed the game lagging a bit. But I thought nothing of it at first. A few minutes later I gave a command that forced a scene change and that is when Dex stopped working, my phone reacted saying it disconnected. YouTube just got quiet. And I had to force restart.

Included is the "log collector" file I have seen people using.

I have tried a few different things suggested elsewhere. From driver reinstalls to turning of TMP in the bios. But yea, keeps happening and I am at a loss.

Hoping someone can illuminate / help me pinpoint something I probably have overlooked or missed. Any and all help is much appreciated! Please, let me know if you need any more info. Hopefully you can see my system specs on my profile too.

Might want to try this if you still have a backup of your Win 10 install....

In-Place Upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11...

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Get the Windows 11 ISO image and save it to your desktop...

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

Thank you for the reply and suggestion!

Unfortunately I don't have a backup saved of win 10. I do have a USB Install device for Win 10 and 11 tho.

When I installed windows 11 I did so by formatting all drives, and used the USB to install 11 fresh.

But If this trick still applies I will most certainly try it, not like I have anything to lose :)

My Windows 10 was very clean and smoothly working.
So I just did an In-Place upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11.
All that clean and smooth, came along for the ride.

I'm guessing you're having an issue with drivers, assuming you have the TPM and Secure Boot set up properly.
Which is why I suggested the In-Place from W10 to W11.

It might be easier to get W10 set up and running smoothly, again. Then, do the In-Place upgrade to W11.

@zbook, may be able to fix your existing Windows 11. You should probably wait and see what he has to say. :-)

You can look at reliability monitor to see if it points to anything wonky. View Reliability History in Windows 11 Tutorial

I agree with @Ghot about it probably being a driver and I also agree to wait for @zbook to respond as he has more experience than most of us in analyzing logs.

Side note-If per chance you have Corsair Icue installed folks over on the Corsair forum have reported it causing freezes. Might not apply to you.

Good afternoon!
Apologies for taking so long, life came in the way.

But I have changed the standard windows Language to English (However it seems a few lines are still in Swedish, ask if you need context). Included is an updated log collector file. As well as the Tune up log.

Today (2023-03-12) the system froze on me around 14:30. I had to cut power to the system for it to restart, hence the "critical kernel power" log entry. No other method works

Hopefully this helps.

The log files were cleaned and files used for troubleshooting were missing.

For example, today is 03/12/2022 and the Windows error reporting starts on 03/11/2022.

Which windows methods were used for cleaning?

Which third party software if any was used for cleaning?

Please make sure that no cleaning is performed during the troubleshooting.

I've been having the exact same problem on my PC for over a year now. It didn't seem to occur when the PC was new but after about 6 months and windows updates/etc. it started.

It usually happens when I'm playing normal PC games. When I play emulator games it doesn't happen as often. Basically, one of two things will occur.

1. The game I'm playing will crash. If I try to reload it it just insta-crashes without loading. Task manager will either not open at all--or it will open and half the stuff in the list will be missing.
2. Browsers will lock up and/or if I try to open a new browser or tab--the area where it says what's on the tab will be replaced by a full line like this:

============ (It will be a solid line though--not with ='s)

3. If I try to load any new program--it won't load at all and it will instant crash--regardless of what it is.
4. I get no error messages at all or PC lag or anything obvious and noticeable.
5. If I'm running a PC game and I have an emulator or two open--like Bluestacks/LD Player/etc., the emulator and game will still run alright until I close it. Then, the emulators won't load again either.

6. If I try to shut down the PC--it will hang, the cursor will spin "Busy" and I have to physically reboot it via the power button.
7. This occurs completely at random. Sometimes, I can use the PC for 1-2 months without it happening. Other times, it happens 2x in a row in the same day.

(So far, I've gone 1 week without it happening. When it last happened, it happened twice in a day and then prior to that--I went almost 3 months without it.)

I ran the full system file scan thing last year. It said it found some corrupted data and repaired it. This did nothing to stop this issue though.
I have no idea how to diagnose this issue. It's driving me nuts because it's so random.
