Hello everyone! This is my first post on the Windows 11 forms.

I've been having a strange system on my Dell Inspiron 16 7620 2-in-1, and I'm not sure when or how long this has been happening for. I'm currently on Win 11 23H2.

As the title suggests, whenever I remove SD Cards from my laptops SD card reader, it plays the device removed chime twice, back to back. I've tested this with USB's, and it only seems to affect this port specifically.

I've tried to use USBLogView to see what's happening, but it only shows the device being entered and removed once:

Strangely enough, I noticed that the second device disconnect sound seems to be the one that's actually in tune with the devices actual disconnect sound, it seems.

Here it is on video:

Anyways, I would appreciate any input on this. It's been driving me nuts!

I have experienced that when I didn't make a smooth strong pull of the Thumb drive from the socket. Some drives didn't have much wriggle room, didn't take much to change the contacts inside the port. On those I didn't have a good reach to I used a male to female extension cord which let me use both hands.

Hello @an_ezflash and welcome to Eleven Forum. :-)

My phone does that as well... connecting or disconnecting. (Samsung Galaxy A54 5G)
For my USB stick, I still use the System Tray "eject" function.

I just ignore the Win 11 sounds.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?

Interesting. My card reader is pretty free and easy to access, and I always get a good grip on the card with my thumb & index on either the sides or the top and bottom, so I don't think that it could be the issue in my case. I'm glad you found an interesting solution to your problem, however!

I think that I was ignoring them too, I usually have headphones plugged in, but when I'm quickly managing files from an SD card to transfer them, I usually don't put them on, so that probably explains why I only noticed it recently.
