Windows 11
Dear Friends,

I have always been a Microsoft user progressing from Windows 95 to, a few days ago, Windows 11. I live in a super secure (up till now) condominium in North Saint Paul, Minnesota which is a city suburb of Minneapolis-Saint Paul (Twin Cities) metropolitan area.

In my personal situation, I DO NOT NEED all the security Microsoft included in its products and in particular its Windows operating systems. When I leave home for longer than one day I always protect my desktop software with a password and, sometimes, removing hardware components from the desktop. However, I am home the majority of my time and, again, I dont want a PASSWORD or PIN to spoil my day.

I wonder if some of you know a secure way for me to get rid of Windows 11 PASSORD & PIN that I was able, but I don't recall how, to bypass/disable in both Windows 7 and Windows 10. On the Internet, I followed some suggestions that did not turn out to be reliable, so I ask this community for help on this subject. It cost me money to purchase a genuine version of Windows 11 Home and because my environment is not an office but a private secure house, I would like to have full control of my computer system. Please, forgive my "ranting" and I hope in your understanding and help!:-)

Hello Piero, and welcome. :alien:

You can set up netplwiz in option one of the tutorial below to automatically sign in to your account at startup.

Hello Piero, and welcome. :alien:

I second this. If you want to use a Microsoft account without password, this is the way. I use this method on my PC.

Notes:
  • Windows Hello PIN will NOT work. Use your Microsoft Account Password.
  • If you log off, lock your PC or put your PC into sleep, it will still require tour password/pin.

Brink,

I tried to make the changes using REGEDIT but in the location you told me (....windowsNT/Current version/winlogon) I didn't find the name (AutoAdminLogon) you mentioned. Strange, isn't it? So...I decided to logon my desktop as administrator and issued the netplwiz command and...it worked. So, I thank you very much for your help. It was great and resolved my problem at 100% !!
I still don't understand why Microsoft, during the installation of Windows 11, does not give that choice to the user as, in many cases, the installer is the ONLY user of his/her desktop.

I can now relax and prepare myself to enjoy a Merry Christmas that I also extend to you and your family.

Great news Piero.

The AutoAdminLogon string value doesn't exist by default, and would have to be manually added. You'd still have to be signed in as an administrator to do so, and using netplwiz (option 1) is the best option anyways.
