Yes i did the setup myself, on a local account, there is no connection to the school, IIRC this windows license was just a regular OEM Education not attached to any organization.

On the other hand i do have Office 365 Apps for enterprise, and this one uses the school email to connect to. I've looked into it but i don't see an option to disable the organization managing my device.

If you didn't uncheck the Allow my organization...when setting up Office, you may be registered with your school's Azure AD. See if you find the Leave the organization in Settings> System> About

It's possibly a generic message because of the key that you got from the University itself, because technically the license is to the Uni, not directly to you.

IOW - yet another one of the bugs of the Health Check software.

I also have a local account, I use Office 2019 without any login, the only time I ever logged in was into Store with a personal Microsoft account (apparently that's the only way to download a free theme). On the other hand, I did configure a number of Group Policies and disabled a number of services. Any one of those could block the tool from working properly, but I don't think it's worth investigating.

I wouldn't worry about this. Once Windows 11 will be available, I will get a license from the University and install it on another hard drive (I never upgrade).

I've added a comment below that post - but it could very well be the underlying vulnerabilities like Spectre and Meltdown that causes the seemingly arbitrary cutoff, versus my own (conspiracy) theory about the date being selected based upon when TPM was made an official ISO Standard.

With the still continued prevalence of WFH, home PCs need to be secured better than they are for use with workplaces. This could be a heavy-handed way to try to achieve that.

Yes, more speculation, but that post there that @z3r010 made seems to bolster this latest idea.

Ok, I read it. That's all very nice. There are now a bazillion devices of good quality and performance that just got arbitarily left in the dust. WFH is very nice if you are still working. Cradle to grave chip to cloud Azure, all that is very nice, if you are a business. I won't keep going and I'm not trying to start a diversion argument or debate. It's clear where MS is going, and that is straight to the bank. Shame.

But you are not developing an OS to be used by millions / billions either.

My point was that If Microsoft is following the money trail, it's because of the rampant malware attacks (and specifically ransomware attacks) that have been wiping out businesses and government facilities and particularly municipal UTILITIES.

Sorry, but I'm not gonna cry if my laptop cannot use Windows 11 - as long as my power grid gets better security. A few hundred million users can't run Windows 11 =/= economic and social collapse that could happen if utilities are continually targeted and successfully attacked over the long haul.

Sorry, but that's my take.
