Windows 11 Pro
Hello-

I'm new here....was on the old Seven Forums.....

Had my Windows 7 Pro upgraded to Windows 11 Pro and am having a heck of a time learning this Windows 11 UI

Trying to get my Canon ImageCLASS MF3010 to play well with Windows 11 and it SEEMS the Printer side is working,
however, the Scanner doesn't want to work.
The Canon is less than a year old, installed it via the Installation CD.

The only thing I can offer here is that I get a Notice via the Canon MF Toolbox 4.9 notifying of a communication error.
Please note the attachment.

Thanks, in advance, for any and all help and guidance on this matter....

Tim

PS- thus far, we don't care for Windows 11 UI as compared to 7- to me, at this point, it's a logistical nightmare- but, surely,
we understand that it is what it is. More than likely some 'newbie' frustration, too. I am not a computer 'geek' or 'nerd' and don't want to be...
just use Windows for the productivity areas in my life.- tw

Yes, 'Almighty1'.....did it both from Installation CD>Uninstalled everything>went to Canon site and downloaded/installed from there.
Same results.....seems to Print OK when running Test Page, just an issue with Scan feature. (See attach'mt)

Do greatly appreciate your input and direction- THANK YOU!

Just read this at W11 24H2 eSCL "BUG" causing havoc - Read from that comment and those after it, seems like others with Canon also has a issue with the scanner in 24H2.
Again, thanks much!...... before we installed Windows 11 on this machine, we did snoop around on the web a bit regarding
Windows 11 anomalies and Updates.....we did read a bit about the 24H2 (Oct Update?) 'breaking' some things within Windows 11, but didn't
study in detail.

Here's my problem, albeit a personal one..... Once upon a time I was quite adept at building my own machines, modifying to suit,
and tweaking Windows to suit my needs. However, I've become too old- and with advancing age comes less desire!- to become too
involved with 'all things Windows' anymore. For example, 'back in the day', we would have found a way to get Windows 11 to run on
this 10 yr old hardware (UEFI, Secure Boot, and whatever else it took).....just don't have the desire, nor patience, to do this anymore.
Same thing is happening with my life long passion of designing, building, and racing RC Nitro Boats.
With all of this said, I've opted to entrust you guys here for any direction dealing with these things. I loved the SevenForum and learned
a LOT from everyone over there, especially that genius, Shawn Brink. Great guy, always willing to help- even through PM- and many other
intelligent Windows 'geeks/nerds' there.

Soooo, we'll go study the link you provided and see what happens.... I'm certain we'll be back with more elementary questions for you more
knowledgeable techies.

One last thing, for now- I liked how back in the Windows 7 days one could shut automatic Updates down, look them over and study which ones
were 'bad', and decide from there. Haven't discovered how to do that on 11 yet, and I'd also like any and all forms of AI and Windows 'listening and
watching' to be gone from this System.

Thanks again, and have a great weekend.....we'll report back regarding the 24H2 'BUG' issue.

Kind Regards-
tim

This involves Windows FAX/Scan?.....or Canon?.... found this while scrounging around..... Found NO 'Optional Feature' within 'System'.

But, really, Windows and Canon need to get their collective acts together on this matter. Microsoft really needs to run these UPDATES
natively before releasing into the wild, IMO.

This involves Windows FAX/Scan?
Yes. What I had to do was after the printers were installed, two Notebooks [HP and Lenovo] following clean installs. They both picked up and installed the printers that are connected to my Wireless Router. I've not yet needed to install the HP software.

Ok, thing we've found something here..... Added Windows Fax and Scan to Optional Features (System>Optional Features)

Removed Default status on the Canon MF3010 Printer and made the Windows FAX Default. MF3010 Printer still functions, and now
when I go to MF Toolbox 4.9, open it, and click B&W Scan, we get the proper dialogue window. Haven't ran anything yet, other than
test print page, but am quite confident everything is functioning correctly.

Thanks, ALL, for the guidance....sure helped with getting the juices flowing again. :-)

Kind Regards-
tim
