I would like Windows to display in English as the operating system language while showing regional settings (such as currency, date format, etc) in Norwegian. I also want Norwegian as the default and only input.

Sounds easy, right?

Well, I can't seem to get it right, Does anyone have any tips here? Please see the attached images.

As you can see, some parts of the OS is in English and other parts are in Norwegian.

@BlueShark

Hi there

Language is a bit broken on W11 (some releases) currently with things being displayed in a mixture -- at least for some Languages. Input though is easy enough -- just add a keyboard for whatever language you want -- you could even have a Chinese keyboard with Norwegian display language if you like -- and to switch keyboards just use the language setting at bottom right of screen.

Cheers

I think Jimbo is on the right track there. I had a lot of trouble setting mine up with a US keyboard and UK settings. For me it was a lot of trial and error but I got there in the end. A few settings had to be changed. I only got one language installed (English UK) and that was about the only way I could get rid of the Language indicator on the taskbar.

I think I have found a solution but there is a downside to it.

Adding both English and Norwegian in the settings and setting English as the top (preferred) language seems to work. This will make all apps (UWP) and settings display in English while the regional settings are in Norwegian.

The downside is that I am now getting two keyboard languages in the "language bar", in the bottom right corner. I only want Norwegian as the input (keyboard) language. English keyboard is redundant as I can write everything English from a Norwegian keyboard.

It is not really a big problem. The language bar can be hidden. But if I accidentally hit WIN+SPACEBAR Windows will change the input language. This happens often, which was why I decided to only have English as the main language in the first place.

Can you not uninstall the language you do want? Just a guess, as I had this with the US and UK so I put the US one on top as that is what my keyboard is and underneath the UK as that is my region. I may be barking up the wrong tree here but I hope that gives you some idea.
